422' <br />�e <br />Mr. Raymond said that he did not know what kind of <br />' <br />work Thyng did but he would like to have him make up <br />a few signs to see what they were like before he gave <br />Bids on <br />him the contract for the whole lot. Mr. Potter said that <br />street <br />he thought Mr. Thyng should be allowed a little more <br />signs. <br />money for the few signs that he is to make now due to <br />the fact that he might have to pay more for his materials <br />in small lots than if he were buying materials for the <br />whole job. <br />Mr. Clark moved that Mr. Raymond be authorized to <br />have Mr. Thyng makeup a few signs and determine whether <br />or not they were suitable and to make whatever arrange- <br />ments regarding payment he could. Mr. Ross sedonded <br />the motion and it was so voted. <br />Mr. Raymond said that he had a figure from Fiske <br />Alden for furnishing a second-hand Fordson tractor with <br />new motor for $1200.00. He said that he would like <br />assurance that he could go ahead on a rental basis of <br />$200.00 per month. His idea was to pay for this out <br />of Drain Construction and W.P.A. Labor and Materials. <br />Tractor. <br />He thought.that the machine would be good for a number <br />of years. There was no recommendation on this before <br />the Annual Town Meeting. The Chairman asked how much <br />use he would have for the machine during the balance of <br />the year: Mr. Raymond said that it could be used the <br />, <br />next two or three weeks on Independence Avenue, it <br />could be used on Clematis, Mill and Brown Brooks and <br />could be used on Reed Street for two or three weeks, <br />and he thought that $600. or $700. worth of rental would <br />be eaten up. <br />Mr. Ross moved that the Board approve the rental <br />of the tractor and that Mr. Raymond be authorized to <br />come in later on with his recommendation as to its <br />purchase, it being understood that the rental price <br />of the machine,if the Town decided to buy it, was to <br />be applied to the purchase price. Mr. Potter seconded <br />the motion and it was so voted. <br />Mr. Raymond said that Mr. Ambler of Brandon Street <br />and someone else had complained to him about the holes <br />in Fottler Avenue and Brandon Street which they thought <br />were caused by Town trucks working on the trunk line <br />Damage to <br />sewer and Mill Brook drainage, and they felt that it <br />Pottler Ave. <br />was up to the Town to fill in the holes. Mr. Raymond <br />and <br />said that he was not hereat the time this work was <br />Brandon St. <br />done, so could not say whbther or not the Town was <br />responsible for the holes. Mr. Ross said that the Town <br />did damage the street, but that there were a great <br />many holes there before the Town went in there. <br />Mr. Ross moved that Mr. Raymond be authorized to <br />' <br />repair the damage to Fottler Avenue and Brandon Street <br />caused by the Town. Mr. Potter seconded the motion and <br />it was so voted. <br />
