SPECIAL MEETING <br />' MARCH 15th, 1937. <br />A Special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held in the Selectmen s Room, Town Office Building, at. <br />4.00 P.M. Chairman Ferguson, Messrs. Potter, Giroux <br />and Ross were present. The Clerk was also present. <br />The Board discussed the votes for the Town Meet - <br />ing.. <br />347 <br />It was decided to take up the article on the Smith Barnes and <br />property before the article on the Barnes property and Smith <br />if the Smith property went through, then the amount to- property <br />be appropriated under the,Barnes article would be re- articles.. <br />duced by $1500.00. <br />Inasmuch as there is a balance of approximately <br />$900.00 in the account for granolith c sidewalks, sundry <br />streets, Mr. Giroux moved that the amount to be requested Sidewalks <br />under this article be reduced to $500.00. Mr. Potter <br />seconded the motion and it was so voted. <br />The Chairman reported that the cost of improving <br />' street lighting on Mass. Avenue from Woburn Street to Street <br />the Arlington line would amount to about $400. for the Lights <br />balance of the year. Mr. Giroux moved that the amount <br />to be requested for street lighting be reduced from <br />$23,500.00 to $223,900.00.. Mr. Potter seconded the <br />motion and it was so voted. <br />The'Chairman said that he did not like to ask for <br />the $600.00 additional in the Public Works Building <br />Repairs account for the Town Painter. He said that <br />Mr. Raymond thought that the painting of traffic lines <br />was done by regular employees but it was done by extra <br />help. He thought that with this work and what would Town <br />have to be done painting snow equipment, libraries, Painter <br />etc.., that there.would be ample work for a painter in <br />the appropriations without asking for the $600.00. He <br />said that the extra man could be employed for fifteen <br />or twgnty weeks doing all this work and Mr. Raymond <br />could decide whether or not a Town Painter was needed <br />in the future. Mr. Ross moved that the appropriation <br />for Public Works Bldg. Operation be set at $100374. <br />Mr. Potter seconded the motion and it was so voted. <br />Mr. Raymond reported that Mr. George W. Norton <br />of Watertown Street had signed an agreement to the Childs <br />' effect that he would allow a water pipe to be laid Water <br />across his property to serve Calvin W. Chills. Inasmuch Service. <br />as Childs had signed an agreement to the effect that he <br />would be willing to pay a betterment assessment, Mr. <br />
