254 <br />SPECIAL SEEXE CTMENtS MEETING <br />JANUARY 260 1937. <br />A special meeting of the Selectmen was held in the <br />Seleetments Room, Torn Office Building, at 3:30 P. M. <br />Chairman Ferguson, Messrs. Potter, Giroux and Clark: were <br />present. The Supt. of Public Works and the Clerk were <br />also present. <br />Mr. Garrity appeared before the Board to discuss the <br />Park Department budget for 1937.. <br />The total amount of money requested was $17,219.003 <br />Clerk: <br />-"- Vr. Garrity said that he was asking for an increase <br />of $2.00 per week in the Park Department budget for the <br />Clerk, who is paid one-half from the Park Department and <br />one-half from the V.P.A. Labor and Materials appropriation. <br />Car Allowende: <br />arr ty said that in the past twenty months, the <br />town had allowed him $216.11 for car expenses and his own <br />expenses, including the purchase of the car, for thin <br />period amounted to $922.75. At the present time the car <br />has a value of $325.00 which would mean that hi's personal <br />expenses for the past twenty months amounted to $600.00. <br />He figured that in the past twenty months his car had <br />been run 200000 miles in the service of the Town. <br />Labor: <br />Garrity said that he would like to put another <br />man at the East Lexington Playground for a period of ten <br />weeks at $20.00 per week and another man at the Center <br />Playground for a period of six weeks at $20.00 per week. <br />He would like to increase John McEnroe's wages from .50 <br />to $:55 per hour and to increase Charles Brenton's salary <br />from 25. to $28. per week. <br />New Lagan Mower: <br />Thl-s-Ta-wn mower would replace the 25 inch lawn mower <br />purchased in 1929 which is pretty well worn .out. If the <br />old one was kept, it would cost about $125. to repair it. <br />Gang Mower: <br />Mr* ,rarrity said that it now takes four days to mow <br />the Center Playground and that he needed a gang mower. <br />The purchase of this mower would mean the addition bf <br />two new units thereby iniereasing the old mower from 30 <br />inches to 65 inches. He thought it would be possible <br />to mow the Center Playground in two and a half dsy s with <br />this new unit attached to the old one. <br />Sundrj Equipment and Repairs <br />Garrityaid that this item included repairs to <br />trucks and equipment and also the shingling of the Buckman <br />Tavern barn at an estimated cost of $175.00. <br />1 <br />1 <br />
