The <br />Chairman said that he thought the Board of Assessors <br />should decide what Mr. Spencer should .be paid and they <br />should make a recommendation to the Board. He retired. <br />-Mr. Paul Mooney and Mr. Roland Garmon appeared be- <br />fore the Board relative to the purchase of an amplifying <br />system for the Town. Mr. Garmon said that Mr. Garrity <br />was very much interested in the equipment for Park <br />purposes. Mr. Mooney said that he had in mind.a semi- <br />portable amplifying system which was laid out by the <br />engineers in the R.C. A. office. It will cover the <br />Common and the Playground and also can be moved into <br />the Cary Memorial Hall, Mr. Mooney said that with two <br />speaker baffles it will fill -the hall perfectly and <br />will also fill in the dead spots. The equipment would <br />include five projectors which would be grouped above the <br />speaker at the Common, two in the center and three toward <br />the street. The whole system is built up of units <br />which can be added to with standard equipment. There <br />is nothing that can become obsolete.. The speakers can <br />be moved from one place to another and when the equipment <br />is to be used in the hall, the racks can be moved in. <br />Two 20 watt amplifyers would be used outside and one 20 <br />watt amplifyer would be used inside. The Company would <br />guarantee absolutely the best possible.results and if <br />desired, would demonstrate the equipment, The total <br />cost of the equipment suggested is 1147, and this covers <br />the necessary permanent fixtures for indoor and outdoor <br />use. Mr. Mooney said that he had a phonograph turn- <br />table which he had been using and he would install it <br />in the Hall so that records could be played. The price <br />quoted includes two megaphones and the speaker's rack to <br />be moved with the speaker. Mr. Mooney stated that it <br />would be necessary to have a. man experienced in radio <br />to run the amplifying system and it would probably cost <br />$10. each time, which would include -supervising the <br />erection and taking down of the equipment. Mr. Mooney <br />lives on Grant Street, Lexington, <br />The Chairman stated that there was nothing the <br />Board could do on the matter at the present time and <br />suggested that Mr. Mooney write a letter to the.Board <br />giving all the information and the cost of the equipment <br />suggested and Mr. Mooney agreed to do this. They retired. <br />Mr. Peter Welsh of Hayes Lane appeared before the <br />Mr. Welsh Board. He said that he wanted some assurance that he <br />re Hayes could get in and out this winter. He said that the <br />Lane. water had washed down from Fletcher Avenue onto haves <br />Lane and he was afraid that the Town would not plow the <br />Lane on account of the washout.
