512 <br />SELECTMENIS MEETING <br />JUNE 9th, 1936. , <br />A regular meeting of the Selectmen was held in the <br />Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, at 6:00 P.M. <br />Chairman Ferguson, Messrs. Potter, Giroux, Clark and <br />Ross were present. The Clerk was also present. <br />'The 'Chairman read a letter which he had received <br />Request to from the Old North Chapter, D.A.R., requesting per - <br />plant tree. mission to plant a tree in memory of a deceased member. <br />Mr. Ferguson thought that the Buckman Tavern -grounds <br />belonged to the Historical Society and Mr. Clark moved <br />that the letter be referred to the Historical Society and <br />that the writer be so advised. Mr. Potter seconded the <br />motion and -it was so voted. <br />opposition letter was received from one Francis J. Watson <br />to beer and opposing the granting of a license to Thomas E. Wye, <br />wine license. Jr., Treasurer of the Pine Meadows Golf Club, Inc., to <br />sell beer and wine. No action was taken on the matter. <br />Letter was received from Andrew Bain, Plumbing <br />Leave of Inspector, advising that he was going to take a trip <br />absence for to Scotland and England in July and expected to be gone <br />Plum4ing about six weeks. He said that the Civil Service ' <br />Inspector. Commission had approved the appointment of the Building <br />Inspector to issue applications and permits for plu*bing, <br />Mr. Ross moved that•Mr. Bain be granted a leave of <br />absence for about six weeks beginning in July. Mr. <br />Potter seconded the motion and it was so voted. <br />Application was received from the Lexington Grange <br />for the use of Cary Memorial Hall on September '25th, <br />1936, from 2:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. for the purpose of <br />Use of holding a Fair. <br />Hall by Letter was received from Mr. John J. Garrity, <br />Grange. Chairman, requesting the use of the hall and also of a <br />small portion of the parking space in the rear of the <br />hall. Mr. Clark moved that the Grange be allowed to <br />use the hall and the parking space on this date at a <br />fee of $15.00. Mr. Potter seconded the motion and it was <br />so voted. <br />Letter was received from Officer Neal stating that <br />Mrs. Bridget Leary informed him that her daughter picked <br />Leary up friends in her car but never received any remuneration <br />taxi. for same and denied that the car had been used as a <br />taxi. Officer Neal stated that the Police had observed <br />the car for some time carrying persons about but had ' <br />never been able to prove that they were paying fares. <br />He informed Mrs. Leary that the car would be watched in <br />the future. <br />
