423 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />' APRIL 14, 1936. <br />A regular meeting of the Selectmen was held in the <br />Town Office Building, Selectmen's Room, at 7,30 P.M. <br />Chairman Ferguson, Messrs. Potter, Giroux and Ross were <br />present. The Clerk was also present. Mr. C1ark.arrived <br />at the meeting at 9:30 P.M. <br />Letter was received from the Town Counsel calling <br />attention to a new law, Chapter 187 of the Acts of 1936, <br />relating to takings by Eminent Domain. It is now <br />necessary to notify not only owners of land but also <br />mortgagees. The taking is not defective for lack, of <br />Takings <br />notice but the Statute of limitations on petitions for <br />Eminent <br />damages is extended. The letter stated that the only <br />Domain. <br />way to ascertain the mortgagees accurately was by a <br />search of the records for that purpose each time. It <br />might be possible to get information from the owner but <br />the Town would not be protected in relying upon it. <br />Mr. Potter moved that the Assessors be advised of <br />the new law and that they be requested to furnish the <br />names of the mortgagees in such takings. Mr. Ross <br />' <br />seconded the motion and it was so voted. <br />Mr. Giroux stated that Miss Katherine Harrington <br />told him that she was advised by the Building Inspector <br />that she could not put a garage under her house and he <br />Harring- <br />advised her to cut into the bank in the rear of the <br />ton <br />property. This cost her $200. and it will cost $60. <br />Garage, <br />to fix the stone wall. Now she has been told that <br />she could have put the garage under the house. <br />Mr. Giroux moved that Mr. Longbottom be requested <br />to appear before the Board next Tuesday evening to, <br />discuss the matter. Mr. Ross seconded the motion and <br />it was so voted. <br />Letter was received from the County Commissioners <br />stetting that assistance would be granted for the repair <br />and rebuilding of streets and bridges to those towns <br />and cities which present projects covering such work. <br />The letter urged that the Town confer with the local <br />W.P.A. Supervisor and prepare projects for damage done <br />W.P.A. <br />and transmit same to the District W.P.A. Director, <br />projects. <br />Mr. Trask reported that he would recommend that <br />Repairs to <br />repairs to Grove Street and the construction of a culvert <br />flood <br />in Concord Avenue be submitted. <br />damages. <br />Mr. Ross moved that these items be submitted as <br />W.P.A. projects.
