1 <br />1 <br />207 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />MARCH 21, 1933. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, at 7;30 P.M. <br />Messrs, Trask, Gilcrea`st, Ferguson and O'Connell were <br />present. The Supt. of Public Works and Miss Elinor Moakley <br />were also present. <br />Mr. Lawrence G. Mitchell, Agent of the Board of Public <br />Welfare, came before the Board in regard to Welfare and Un- <br />employment Relief cases. <br />He stated that he had received an application for <br />Unemployment Relief from William O'Neill, who had just O'Neill <br />return to Lexington from Texas. He has a legal settlement <br />in Lexington and is temporarilly living with his sitter. <br />The Board did not take any action on the case. <br />He also received application from George T. Rudd, <br />brother of John Rudd, who is living with his brother Thomas <br />on Garfield Street. He is twenty-four years old and single. <br />He has been out of work for two or three years. Mr. Mitchell <br />stated that he spoke to Mr. John Rudd about him, and he stated <br />that he found it impossible to have him work for him. <br />It was decided to give him one day a week. <br />Mr. Mitchell reported that Mr. Timothy Kinneen, who <br />has been working for Page the plumber, is back on Unemploy- <br />ment Relief again temporarily, as was Mr. Stephen Dolan. <br />In regard to the case of John Keneally, 173 Mass. Ave., <br />Mr. Mitchell stated that he had investigated and found <br />that the car which he runs was transferred by him to Mrs. <br />Gale, his landlady, last February, 1932. No action was <br />taken on the application, however. <br />Mr. Mitchell reported that he advised Frank Parker <br />that he could not be given any work until his son disposed <br />of the car he was driging, and although Mr. Parker claimed <br />to be in straightened circumstances, he did not agree to <br />do so. <br />Mr. George Cogswell wanted more work. He receives <br />$9. per week on Welfare, has two children and pays $15, <br />per month rent to his mother-in-law. Mr. Mitchell stated <br />that he has not yet received authorization from the State <br />on this case. <br />The Board therefor decided to take no action on the <br />case at the present time. <br />Rudd <br />Kinneen <br />Keneally <br />Parker <br />Cogswell <br />The Chairman of the Board was instructed to communicate <br />with the heads of departments and inform them that in the Purchases <br />future no purchases should be made without a requisition <br />approved by the Supt. of Public Works. <br />
