D <br />fl <br />SELECTMENIS MEETING <br />August 19, 1930. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen <br />was held at the Selectmen's Room, Town Office <br />Building at 7:30 P.M. Messrs.Burnham, Custance, <br />Blake and Trask were present. The Supt. of <br />Public Works and the Clerk were also present. <br />Water abatement in the amount of $94.14 and <br />Sewer abatement in the amount of $115.57 were <br />signed by the Board. <br />Abatements. <br />Application was received from Frank W. Perkins <br />of 536 Massachusetts Avenue asking permission to F. Perkins <br />install gasoline tanks in the capacity of 2000 gasoline <br />gallons at 542 Massachusetts Avenue. application <br />The Board considered the application and <br />inasmuch as the property is not located in the business <br />district, under the Zoning Law, they decided <br />to inf orm Mr. Perkins that they could not entertain <br />his application. They also decided to inform <br />him that he should apply to the Board of Appeals <br />for permission to carry on the business of <br />repairing cars in what was formerly a blacksmith <br />shop. <br />At 8 P.M. the following bids were received <br />on the sewer construction loan of $15,000. Sewer Don. <br />Estabrook & Co. 100.568 Loan. <br />Harris Forbes & Co. 100.56 <br />Lex. Trust Co. 100.138 <br />First National Old Colony Corp. 100.49 <br />The bid was awarddd to Estabrook & Co. <br />Letter was received from Richard A. Cox, <br />2965 Mass. Ave. in which he expressed appreciation <br />of the construction of Mass. Avenue from the Bluff <br />to Lake Street, giving credit for the contours <br />and beauty of the road. The Board acknowledged <br />receipt of the letter with thanks. <br />Estimate of the cost of construction of the <br />8" water main in Winter Street was received from <br />the Supt. of Public Works, totalling 22,220. <br />It was decided to rive this information to the <br />residents of Winter Street desiring the water to <br />see if they would be willing to sign the guarantee. <br />Mr. Harry A. Burgess who operates the Marrett <br />Gardens miniature golf course and golf practice <br />course and also one on Bedford Street applied for <br />a permit to have these amusements on Sunday. <br />The Board decided that they could not grant <br />any permit for Sunday entertainment inasmuch as <br />these places are being. operated in a residential <br />25 <br />Appreciation of <br />Mass.
