The Department reserves the right to reject <br />any or all proposals or to accept the one most <br />visit to the Hancock -Clarke House to ten minutes, <br />thereby giving the visitors a hurried glimpse of <br />the House and not having time to buy souvenirs or <br />a cool drink. She also.informed the Attorney, <br />Mr. Russell, that she had ridden on the bus and they <br />stated that a ten minute stop would be made at the House <br />with a fifteen minute stop three miles on for rest <br />and refreshment. Mr. Russell also rode on the bus and <br />he stated that the same information was given out to <br />the visitors. <br />Mr. Russell stated that his father had conferred <br />with with two officials of the Grey Line, and they <br />informed him that such a condition as he presented <br />could not exist, and if it did, the drivers would <br />be discharged, as Mr. Russell told the officials <br />that as soon as the drivers ehanued from an <br />independent company to the Grey Line their attitude <br />toward Mrs. Peckham's stand differed, and when they <br />changed from the Grey Line to an independent line they <br />were at once congenial and friendly. He therefor <br />thought that the instructions to the drivers might <br />have something to do with their attitude. <br />The Board ditcussed the matter at length and <br />decided that the Board had no jurisdiction in the <br />matter but that it was a matter for Mrs. Peckham's <br />attorney to straighten out. <br />' <br />Mr. Scamman presented copy of proposals for <br />collection and disposal of garbage to be inserted in <br />the local paper and mail to some out of town people <br />who might be interested, as follows: <br />Board of Health, Lexington, Mass. <br />Proposals for Collection & Disposal of Garbage. <br />Garbage <br />The Department will receive proposals for the proposals. <br />collection and disposal of garbage or proposals for <br />the purchase of garbage if collected by the Town. <br />Proposals must be for three years. <br />All garbage must be bollected at least twice <br />a week and where necessary must be collected every <br />working day. Approximately 1500 stores and houses <br />are now served. <br />All vehicles used in the collection or trans- <br />portation of garbage shall be water tight and shall <br />be provided with covers which shall be kept tightly <br />closed while they are in motion. <br />Disposal shall be outside the Town of Lexington. <br />' <br />A bond for the faithful performance of the <br />contract will be required. <br />The Department reserves the right to reject <br />any or all proposals or to accept the one most <br />
