MIT <br />Aerial <br />Surveys <br />SELECTMENIS MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1930 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen <br />was held at the Selectments Room, Town Office <br />Building at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Chamberlain, <br />Blake and Shannon were present. The Supt. of Public <br />Works and the Clerk were also present. <br />At 7:30 F.M. Mr. Bagley of the Fairchild Aerial <br />Surveys Inc. of New York, came before the Board., <br />and explained and presented pictures showing aerial <br />surveys taken in other places and how the maps are <br />prepared. He stated that as soon as the order <br />could be received he could make a^rangements immediately* <br />to have the work done. Under the Spring flying <br />conditions, it would take about one day to finish the <br />work of taking the pictures; then the pictures would be <br />put together over -lapping each other to make a mosaic <br />maga They can enlarge the pictures of any section when <br />needed, and all of the work is done from the original <br />picture taken. <br />He explained that the Company already has done <br />about 28 cities and towns in Connecticut, and that <br />at the present time they are doing the City of Boston, <br />Brookline has also had a plan made but the conditions <br />when they made the Brookline map were not as <br />satisfactory to the Company as they desire on account <br />of the shadows. The best part of the day to take <br />the pictures is from 11 to one o'clock and they can <br />do about 50 miles an hour. <br />The camera is arranged so that the pictures <br />can be taken automatically.. Mr. Bagley left a <br />booklet showing pictures taken of other places, <br />and stated that he would be'ghd to give any <br />further information the Board desired in regard <br />to the aerial surveys. The estimate of the cost <br />of d6iing the work was already before the Board. <br />6" <br />v <br />.add' <br />Letter <br />was received from the Town Counsel <br />stating that <br />he had received a'deed from Rubin <br />Deed from <br />Seligman for <br />the land taken on Massaehusetts_Avenue <br />Rubin & <br />in front of <br />his property, and had sent the deed- to <br />'Seligman. <br />the Registry <br />of Deeds for recording. <br />Tercentenary <br />It was <br />voted to appoint Mr. F. P.MaqAllister <br />Committee <br />retired minister, <br />Edgewood Road, to the Tercentenary <br />Committee. <br />Mr. L. <br />H. Truesdell was before ,the Board <br />Survey <br />giving some <br />ifformati'on regarding a survey of street <br />of Street <br />signs that he <br />had made at Mr. Gustance's request. <br />Signs. <br />It was left <br />to Mr. H. C. Blake to complete the <br />arrangements <br />for the work on the street signs. <br />
