402 <br />SELECTMENTS MEETING - NOVEMBER 50 1929. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held at the Selectments Room, Town office Building ,at <br />7:30 P.M. Messrs. Burnham, Custan'ce, Chamberlain, <br />Blake and Shannon were present. The Supt. of Public <br />"forks and the Clerk ware also present. <br />Stuart- Mr. William H. Ballard came before the Board to <br />Marsl^all report regarding the progress of the Stuart -Marshall <br />Realty Co. Realty Company. He presented plans that the Company <br />had drawn of the proposed new building to take the place <br />of the present building. He stated that he had hoped <br />to present a signed proposal by the Company, but they <br />had been unable to get in communication' with the <br />Mortgagee. He presented copy of the new proposal intend- <br />ed to be signed, also snecifications of the stores and <br />apartments, <br />'Lovell Bus Petition was received from the ,Lovell Bus Line Inc. <br />petition. for permission to operate busses from the Lexington;- <br />Woburn line, over Noburn and Lowell Streets to the <br />Lexington -Arlington line. <br />The Board decided to hold a public hearing on the <br />petition. <br />Alcohol licenses were granted to the following: <br />Alcohol Lexington Hardware Supply Co., 1756 Mass. Ave. <br />licenses'.+ E. J. Viano, 1668 Mass. Ave., 1802 Mass. Ave. and <br />34 Bedford Street. <br />State Aid State Aid_ payroll was signed in the amount of <br />payroll. $26900 <br />At 8 P.M. hearing was declared open on the <br />acceptance of Hill Street as.a public highway. A <br />large number of the residents of the street were present. <br />Mr. T. A. Custance conducted the hearing. questions <br />Hill St. were asked, by Miss Ella Tewksbury, Mr. T. E. Mansfield, <br />Mr. Arthur N. Mad.dison, Mr. John 3ullock and Mrs. Marion <br />E. '.7oodworth. The questions asked related more particularly <br />to the distance the road would be constructed from their <br />houses. <br />Mr. A. N. Maddison, President of the Lexington Golf <br />Club represented that org-nization and askod whether or <br />not the improvement was for the benefit of the people <br />living on the street or.whether it was an improvement for <br />the Town as a whole. He was informed that the widening <br />was a Town improvement considered by the Board necessary <br />for the public. Mr. Maddison stated that he felt the <br />Golf Club Committee would probably vote to give the land <br />providing there was no betterments. <br />Mr. Bullock stated that he would be glad to pay for <br />whatever land could be given to him on the change in the <br />layout of the street. <br />The meeting was informed that the street would be a <br />P <br />E <br />1 <br />
