212 <br />REGULAR MEETING, MARCH 13, 1928. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the , <br />Selectmen's'Office. at 7:30 P.H. Messrs. Burnham, Custance, Ballard, <br />Robertson, qLnd Chamberlain were"present.. The Supt, of Public Works <br />and the Clerk were also present. <br />Hearing.was declared open at _8:15 P.M. on the joint petition <br />of the N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co, and the Edison Electric Ill. Co. for <br />permission to erect one pole on East Street. No perapns appeared to <br />object, and it was voted to grant the location order. <br />Hearing was de(lu ed open at 8:20 P.M. upon the petition of the <br />N. E. Tel. & Tel. Co. and the Edison Electric Ill. Co. for, location <br />of two poles on Blossom Street. No peromm appeared to object, and <br />It was voted to grant the location desired. <br />It was also voted to grant the Middlesex & Bostm St. Rwy. Co. <br />permission to transfer 48 poles on Waltham Street from Middle Street <br />to mass. Avenue..'also pOrmission to transfer location of one pole <br />at Middle Street, to the Edison Electric Ill. Co. <br />Permission was granted to the Middlesex & Bostan St. Rwy, Co. <br />to transfer the ownership of one pole on Bedford Street to the <br />Edison Electric Ill. Co. <br />Permission was also granted the_Middlesex & Boston St. xwy. Co. <br />to transfer the ownership of 19 poles on Waltham Street from the <br />Waltham line to Concord Avenue to the Edisan Electric Ill. Co. <br />Hearing was declared open at 8:30 P.M. on the application of <br />the Puritan Sanitary Supply Company for permission to erect a two <br />car garage on Oxford Street. <br />Mr. Arley A. Burgess appeared for the petition, and as no <br />persons appeared against the granting of_a permit, the Board voted <br />to grant same. <br />Dr. Chester L. Blakely was nominated as Animal Inspector for <br />the year 1928. <br />Letter was received from Andrew T. Bain, Plumbing Inspector, <br />stating the hours that he intended to be in the Town Hall. Mr. Bain <br />formerly recommended to the Board that he should have an increase <br />in pgy, and that he should have an office hour every day. An in- <br />crease in pay had been voted at the Town Meeting, and inasmuch as <br />his letter did not present any definite extra time to be serV&d in <br />the Town Hall, Mr. Custance presented a schedule of duties for both <br />the Plumbing Inspector and the Building Inspector. After di tuasion <br />on the matter, it was voted that the Supt. of Public Works hrIgg in <br />his recommendation as to the duties of the Inspectors under his super- <br />vision, and also recommendation of the office hours. <br />A lengthy letter was received from,Mr. Edwin B. ?Worthen in which <br />he related the actions of several of the Boards of Water and Sewer <br />Commissioners in years past,, and recommending.that the Board request <br />the insurance exchange to furnish them with engineering advice as to <br />the proper requirements of the water system in the town. The Board , <br />discussed the advisability of making this request to the New England <br />Insurance Exchange, and decided not to request engineering services. <br />It was decided to gratefully a4knowledge Mr. Worthen's letter <br />and place the same on file. <br />
