20 <br />REGULAR MEETING, FEBRUARY 28, 192B. <br />' A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen.was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Ballard, <br />Robertson, and Chamberlain were present.. The Supt. of Public 4"forks <br />nd the Clerk were also present. <br />The town having voted on September 22, 1927 to borrow money to <br />build a new town office building, the Town Treasurer was requested to <br />ask for bids on $45,000. to be used in part payment for the new <br />office building now under construction. For this purpose the to= <br />will issue under the General Laws, 40 coupon notes of $1,000. each and <br />10 coupon notes of "500, each under the name of "Newi Town Office <br />Building Loan." These notes to be payable as follows: <br />62,500. yearly 1929 to 1938 inclusive $25,000. <br />2,000. yearly 1939 to 1948 " 20,000. <br />$45.,000. <br />The notes to be dated March 1, 1928 with interest at the rate <br />of 4% per annum. <br />Bids were received on the $45,000. loan for the New Town Office <br />building as follows: <br />' Old Colony Cora. 102.657 <br />Estabrook & Co. 103.16 <br />Lexington Trust Co. 103.15 <br />Atlantic -Merrill Oldham Corp. 103.14 <br />C. D. Pariter & Co. 102.37 <br />The bid was .warded to Esta.brbok & Company. <br />Mr. Jesse Meadows, 491 Mass. Avenue, came before the Board to <br />get the Board's approval of his application for a peddlers license. <br />He presented two letters of recommendation and the Board signed the <br />appplication. <br />Report was made to the Board by 141r. Francis Chamberlain that <br />Pyr. John W. Leary who holds a Public Carriage License, employes a driver <br />who takes passengers while under the influence of liquor. The Board <br />therefor felt that some action ;w>uld be taken, -end re uested that <br />Mr. Leary come before them at tine meeting on Tuesday evening next. <br />The Board voted to grant r. Frankl:Iara a Sunday Sales License <br />to keep a shop open at 168 mass. Avenue, and also granted him an <br />Alcohol License. <br />' Letter was received from the erupt. of Public iTorks in rihich he made <br />a recommendation as to the increase in water rates tc> be adopted. <br />Mr. Robertson 'stated that he recommended that we proceed to establish <br />the water rates in accordance with the second paragraph of the Supt. <br />of Public Works' letter with the exception of the change of 180 instead <br />of 172¢.
