20 REGULAR MEETING, FEBRUARY 28, 192B. ' A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen.was held at the Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Ballard, Robertson, and Chamberlain were present.. The Supt. of Public 4"forks nd the Clerk were also present. The town having voted on September 22, 1927 to borrow money to build a new town office building, the Town Treasurer was requested to ask for bids on $45,000. to be used in part payment for the new office building now under construction. For this purpose the to= will issue under the General Laws, 40 coupon notes of $1,000. each and 10 coupon notes of "500, each under the name of "Newi Town Office Building Loan." These notes to be payable as follows: 62,500. yearly 1929 to 1938 inclusive $25,000. 2,000. yearly 1939 to 1948 " 20,000. $45.,000. The notes to be dated March 1, 1928 with interest at the rate of 4% per annum. Bids were received on the $45,000. loan for the New Town Office building as follows: ' Old Colony Cora. 102.657 Estabrook & Co. 103.16 Lexington Trust Co. 103.15 Atlantic -Merrill Oldham Corp. 103.14 C. D. Pariter & Co. 102.37 The bid was .warded to Esta.brbok & Company. Mr. Jesse Meadows, 491 Mass. Avenue, came before the Board to get the Board's approval of his application for a peddlers license. He presented two letters of recommendation and the Board signed the appplication. Report was made to the Board by 141r. Francis Chamberlain that Pyr. John W. Leary who holds a Public Carriage License, employes a driver who takes passengers while under the influence of liquor. The Board therefor felt that some action ;w>uld be taken, -end re uested that Mr. Leary come before them at tine meeting on Tuesday evening next. The Board voted to grant r. Frankl:Iara a Sunday Sales License to keep a shop open at 168 mass. Avenue, and also granted him an Alcohol License. ' Letter was received from the erupt. of Public iTorks in rihich he made a recommendation as to the increase in water rates tc> be adopted. Mr. Robertson 'stated that he recommended that we proceed to establish the water rates in accordance with the second paragraph of the Supt. of Public Works' letter with the exception of the change of 180 instead of 172¢.
