184 <br />REGULAR MEETING; JANUARY 3, 1928. C7 <br />N <br />Regular meeting of the board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:15 P.M. Messrs. Uustance, Burnham, Mallard, a <br />Robertson and Chamberlain were present. The Supt. of Public Works nd <br />the Clerk were also present. <br />A Public carriage License was signed for John Ellis Timothy <br />to operate one Peerless Sedan and one Oakland Sedan in the 'Town <br />of Lexington from January 3 to May 19 1928. The Peerless car takes <br />the place of the Dodge car for which he was granted a license wlich <br />expired May 1, 1928. <br />Agents Licenses Class I. were granted to the following: <br />Calvin W. Childs 99 Mass. Avenue. <br />Minute Man curage 33 nedford Street. <br />Paul Revere Garage State Road. <br />the following commitments were signed: !dater charges in the <br />amount of $304.75 and $101,039.69,; and sewer charges in the amount <br />of $1474.37, and J875.66. <br />In regard to the application of Donald Shea for permission to <br />have a Second Class Dealers license at 119 Mass. Avenue the Board <br />decided to inform Mr. Shea that they would not consider granting him <br />a license until such time as the premises at that address are cleaned <br />up and assurances are received that the premises will be kept clean <br />in the future ' <br />The Board voted to appoint Usborne J. Gorman, Superintendent <br />of the Moth Department and also rorest Warden for the year 1928. <br />Application was received from William J. Kenealy of 23 Cottage <br />Street applying for the position of janitor or assistant janitor of <br />the nary Memorial Building. The application was placed on file. <br />Letter was received from Frederick L. Emery in which he.again <br />called thea ttention of the Board to the layout of the walks and <br />entrances to the men's and women's toilets on the Buckman Tavern <br />property. he felt that an.appropriation should be asked for for, <br />relaying walks and planting shrubs. <br />Estimate was received from the 'sown Engineerforrelaying the <br />paths and supplying loam for new planting at $175. <br />Mr. Ballard suggested that the matter be taken up with the <br />Supt. of Parks and the Board was to decide at a later date. <br />Application was received from the Chief of the Police Department <br />for an increase in pay of $200. Application was also received from <br />the Officers of the department for an increase of 50V per day. it <br />was decided to lay the applications on the table until suchtime <br />as the entire budget of the Police Department is received. <br />1 <br />
