0 <br />PECII.L %fRETIi1U, APRIL 8, 1927. <br />a <br />A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.H. Messrs. Cust�.-nce, Burnham, <br />Ballard, and Roberts -n were present. The Supt. of Public Works <br />and the Clerk were present also. <br />The records were approved with the exception of two corrections, <br />which were made. <br />It was decided to increase the charge for Common Victuallers, <br />Sunday Sales, and Innholders Licenses from x2.00 to :5.00, same <br />deo be effective as of April 30, 1927 when the new license's go into <br />effect. <br />It was called to the Boards attention that Mrs. Sarah Bowman <br />VanNess of 52 Pleasant Street is in a bad mental condition. She <br />continually calls the Police Department several times during the <br />night. She has therefor made herself a nuisance, and the Chairman <br />ttas requested to find out who her relatives were so that someone <br />could care for her. <br />In regard to the matter of building line on Mass. Avenue <br />Jfrom the 'Town Hall to Hancock Street, Mr. Ballard offered to make <br />a report on same in sixty days. <br />The clerk w4s requested to find out whother the American <br />Employers' Insurance Company or any bonding; comprny would issue <br />a bond guaranteeing cost of extension of water mains. It was also <br />suggested that when the Water Department give an estimate of the <br />cost of extending water mins and the amount of the guarantee to be <br />paid that this estimate be signed by the petitioner in duplicate, <br />one copy to be handed to the petitioner and the other to be retained <br />at the office. This will perhaps eliminate th( possibility of mis- <br />understanding. ',igen the statement is then received at the office <br />it should be acknowledged ;.ith the reply that ;re understand they <br />will be liable for the terms of the statement. <br />In reply to the letter of Frederick L. Emery relative to the <br />use by the Tonrn of the l,.nd of the Boston & Maine Railroad for the <br />storage of pipe for the Water Department, the Board replied that <br />although a contribution of 1;3,000. i^.gas made by citizens of the town <br />to the Boston & Maine Railroad for the purchase of this property <br />and removing the coal yard and President Tuttle of the Boston & <br />Maine R. R. replied to Mr. Emery under date of March 31, 1910 that <br />this land was not to be sold or leased for business purposes, but <br />would be retained for requirements of his company, the deed of the <br />property from Warren A. and Walter H. Pierce of Arlington and Frank <br />Peabody of Lexington did not contain any statement relative to the <br />use of the land. The Board replied therefor to qtr. Emery informing <br />him that inasmuch as this deed did not contain a restriction relative <br />to the use of the land that the town proposed to use it for the <br />storage of pipe until such time as a permanent location fora <br />municipal yard can be secured. <br />In regard to the letter of the <br />to their request for <br />ing a building line <br />Cemetery, the Board <br />the services of <br />on Mass.
