1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />REGULAR MEETING, MARCH 22, 1927. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.il. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Ballard, <br />Robertson, and Chamberlain were present. The Clerk and -the Supt. <br />of Public Works were -also nresent. <br />The records were approved after making a few corrections. <br />Bids on the revenue loan of $150,000. were received as follows: <br />Grafton & Co_.. <br />Old Colony Trust Co. <br />First National Bank <br />Fourth Atlantic Bank <br />Lexington Trust Co. <br />3.71 discount <br />3.74 5% discount <br />3.71 $4.00 Premium <br />3.701 discount <br />3.69 discount plus <br />premium $5.00 <br />The bid was awarded to the lowest bidder the Lexington Trust <br />Company. <br />Report was made that the case of Joseph Sha -ler who had an <br />accident on Waltham Street caused by a defect in the highway was <br />settled by the Town Counsel to the amount of $100.00. <br />Letter was received from the Town Counsel in regard to the <br />case of George A. Woods. The Boprd decided to lay this case upon <br />the table. <br />Application was received from William A. Granfield for a permit <br />to install a gasoline tank on his premises at the corner of Spring <br />and Middle Streets. It was decided to return to Mr. Granfield his <br />money paid for the advertising and permit and inform him that no <br />action will be taken until the application for a gasoline permit <br />made by Lloyd H. Chase has been acted upon. <br />In regard to advertising bids for the sale of the Rindge <br />property at 516 Massachusetts Avenue Mr. Ballard suggested that a <br />specimen deed be made out by the Town Counsel so that it might be <br />handed to all parties interested in the purchase of this property. <br />Matter of restriction placed upon the building by vote of the <br />Town was also discussed. It wa- decided to request the To�,;n Counsel <br />to draw up the necessary deed. <br />Application for a Common Victuallers license wa.- received from <br />Rose �'dhitney Smith of Bedford Street. <br />Opinion was received from the Town Counsel relative to the <br />conditions which surround the Smith property. The Smith family have <br />operated a boarding house for a great many years and served meals <br />to persons prior to the zoning law. For this reason it was felt <br />that Mrs. Smith was entitled to a. Common Victuallers license even <br />though her property wn s in .a residence district, and it was voted to <br />grant the same. <br />Report was made that a letter was sent to Mr. Thomas Kelley of <br />Bedford Street informing him that after consideration and investi- <br />gation by the Police Department and Town Counsel it was found that <br />
