394''. <br />REGULAR MEETING, December 7, 1926* <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the "'=7 <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Cuetance, Miles, and <br />Burnham, were present. The Supt. of Public. Worke and the Clerk ' <br />were also present. <br />The records of last moreting were read and approved, <br />Hearing was declared open upon the application of Caroline E. <br />-burns of 953 Winthrop Avenue, Beachmont, for permission to install <br />two 1,000 gallon gasoline tanks at the corner of Middle and Bridge <br />Streets at 8:00 P.M. <br />No persons appeared for -:or against -the applieation, and it was <br />voted not to grant the permit. <br />Mr. Neil McIntosh came before the Board in reference to his <br />request for extensi-on of water pipe in the Fair Oaks property and on <br />Spring and Shade' Streets. He urged the Board to recommend to the <br />Town the extension of these mains. The Board informed him that the <br />cost of this extension of 9300 feet is approximately $28,000. <br />Mr- McIntosh felt that the increased valuation would more than offset <br />the expenditure of this amount. <br />Notice was received from the Boston Chamber of Commerce of a <br />Civic Luncheon on Wednesday, December 8, 1926 at 12:30 P.M. at which <br />time William B. Munro, Professor of Government at Harvard University, <br />would give a talk on *Our Increasingly Expensive Government - Will <br />It Ever Stop?", and invit ng -the -Selectmen to attend. <br />Invitation was also received from the Town Protective Committee ' <br />of 3 Joy Street, Boston, to a luncheon conference at the Twentieth <br />Century Club, December 8, 1926 at 1:00 P.M. at which time Mr. Custgnce, <br />of the Board of Selectmen, was to speak. <br />The Chairman informed the meeting that he had instructed the Town <br />Treasurer to advertise for bids on loan of $1000000, dated December 16, <br />1926 and payable June 16, 1927, bids to be opened= 'December -14, 1926. <br />Letter was received from the Metropolitan District Commission in <br />which they stated that they would be glad to discuss the matter of <br />engineering services to the Town for sewer, water, and park systems. <br />The Clerk was instructed to secure bids for_ths printing of the <br />Town Report for the'year 1926. <br />Class I Agents license=was granted -to John A. Svedlund to do <br />business at 35 Bedford Street, Minute Man Garage, <br />Letter -wan received from Town Counsel advising -the Board of the <br />decision on the Ballard piggery case4 He advised the Board -that <br />Ernest K. Ballard was found not guilty, and; that the gxound upon <br />which the dourt acted in substance was that the piggery regulations <br />are valid only under General Laws, Chapter 111, Section 163, and that <br />the only method of procedure is by means of an order of prohibition <br />as had been taken in the case of'Miskell. <br />The following jurors were drawn: <br />Civil Session Jol Calling 100 Chase Ave <br />Criminal Sewsion Samuel H.
