ME <br />REGULAR MEETING, October 5, 1926, <br />A 1 regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office, at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Miles, <br />Ballard, and Robertson: -were present. The Superintendent of Public <br />Works and the Clerk were also present. <br />Letter was received from Mrs. Ida H. B. Capper in which she asked <br />whether it was the intention of the Board to grant the permit for a <br />gasoline filling station on the southwesterly corner of Waltham and <br />Middle Streets. If she will sign the deed giving to the Town the land <br />as laid out on the plan on the northwesterly and southwesterly corners <br />of Middle and Waltham Streets, the Board replied that in exchange for <br />the signed deed which was sent to her by Mr. Ballard, that they would <br />present her with a permit for a filling station on the southwesterly <br />corner. <br />License to board two infants under the age of two years was signed <br />for Mrs.Lillian Sefton, Fairview Avenue, This is a renewal of the <br />license granted in previous years. <br />A license was signed for the Lovell Bus Line, Inc. to operate and <br />engage in the business of operating motor vehicles upon the following <br />public streets; <br />From Lincoln and Lexington Town Line to Arlington and Lexington <br />Town Line, ofer the following Streets; Massachusetts Avenue, <br />Marrett, School, and Middle Streets, and Massachusetts Avenue. <br />With the restriction that no stops be made from the Concord Railroad <br />Station to Arlington Heights. This license was granted subject to the <br />rules and regulations governing the operation of motor vehicles in the <br />Town of Lexington. <br />The Board discussed the articles for the town warrant, and decided <br />which articles they desired to have placed in the warrant for the special <br />town meeting, and those that would be left for the annual town meeting, <br />and decided to hold a special town meeting about the middle of November. <br />A license to massage was signed for Miss Wilma A. Brown, Bridle Path, <br />East,Lexington. <br />Hearing was declared open upon the acceptance of Farmerest Avenue <br />from Waltham Street to Allen Street, under the Betterment Act, at 8 P.M. <br />Ray Fountain, Aubrey R. Caldwell, Randall Richards, Louis Kraff, and <br />Arthur E. Locke were present at the hearing. The Town Engineer was also <br />present, and went over the plans and estimates with the abuttors. The <br />estizhate of the street was $8800.00. The Board informed the abuttors <br />present that the betterment assessment would be 1000. The gentlemen <br />took the paper for the signatures of the abuttors to sign for the amount <br />set against their respective names based upon the frontage, and agreed . <br />to secure the signatures and return the same to the Board. <br />In regard to the letter received from the Undertakers Association <br />calling attention to Chapter 242 and asking that the Board investigate <br />the same in regard to Thomas Montague, would state that the Board <br />acknowledged receipt of the letter, and after discussing the complaint <br />against Mr. Montague which was brought before them, they decided not to <br />take any action. <br />
