364 <br />REGULAR MEETING, Sept. 21, 1926. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen,s Office at 8:30 P.M. Messrs Custance, Burnham ,° Miles, <br />Ballard, and Robertson were present. The Superintendent of Public works <br />and the Clerk were also present. <br />Mr. W. Roger Greeley, of Kilham, Hopkins & Greeley, came before the <br />Board relative to the proposed office building to be in connection with <br />the Memorial Building to be located on the Shaw-Plumer lot on Mass. <br />Avenue between Grant Street and'Fletcher Avenue., He presented tentative <br />plans of the location of the lot with the proposed memorial building <br />thereon together with a connecting corridor to the proposed location <br />of the office building. These plans were left for thq-consideration of <br />,,,the Board. Mr. Greeley stated that he felt the sum of $120,000 would <br />be sufficient, this to include additional furniture which might be <br />necessary, to cover the cost of the building. The Board decided to make <br />a study of the plans, <br />Mr. Ernest C. Martin, Mr. 0. G. Seeley, and Mr. Fred H. Moulton, <br />came before the Board relative to the application of Mr. Martin for a <br />third class liquor license. Mr. Martin has taken stops -to purchase the <br />drug store owned by 0. G. Seeley, and he is desirous of obtaining g <br />permit for the Bale of liquor upon preseriptions. Mr. Moulton stated <br />that he had known Mr. Martin in Somerville for a number of years, and <br />known him to be an honest and reliable man, and recommended that the <br />Board grant him a license. References were received from Melvin & <br />Badger Company and from the H. D. Huggan Drug Company, both of Boston, <br />in which excellent recommendations were received for Mr. Martin. The <br />Board therefor voted to grant Mr. Martin a third class liquor license <br />to do business at 461 Massachusetts Avenue. <br />A bowlingalley license was granted to Fred B. Bartlett, Bedford <br />Street, to operate six bowling alleys at 466"Massachusette Avenue. <br />The Edison Electric Ill. Company was granted permission to remove <br />poles as follows: <br />Mass. Ave., approximately 420 feet Southeast of Piddle Street 1 pole <br />Mass. Avenue, approximately 240 feet South of Independence' Ave. "1 pole <br />Mass. Ave., approximately 560 feet Northwest of Uharles St. 1 pole <br />Mass. Ave., approximately 170 feet East of Bow Street 1 pole <br />The Board decided to request the Middlesex & Boston St. Rwy. Co. <br />to remove all poles and wires through the centre of the town, this is <br />owing to the fact that the busses are now in operation and the wires <br />have not been removed. <br />k$ <br />Letter was received from the C. & R. Construction Company relative <br />to the condition at Rowland Avenue. They explained that it was necessary <br />to blow a.large section of the worst kind of ledge. They stated that <br />the engineers estimated for the removal of approximately 200 yards of <br />ledge, and they have removed more than twice that amount already. They ' <br />ask special consideration of the Board to this item of ledge, and <br />requdst an equitable adjustment. <br />No action was taken upon the request. <br />
