321 <br />MEETING, MAY ll, 1926. <br />' A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the <br />Selectmen's Office at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Miles <br />and Robertson were present. The Superintendent of Public Works and <br />the clerk were also present. <br />Licensee were granted to the following persons; Common Vic-tuallere <br />License to Kathleen A. Riexinger, and Sunday Sales License to Ethel E. <br />Parker. <br />The Board approved the plan of "Hflacock Birches" which shows the <br />lots on Coolidge Avenue for Mr. Diehl who presented the plan to the <br />Board. <br />Letter was received from Frederick L. Emery, President of the <br />Field and Garden Club, in which he asked permission of the Board to <br />plant shrubs on the Buckman Tavern property near the public lavatory. <br />In another letter he requested permission to plant vines near the <br />Captain Parker statue and neer the Belfry. The Board agreed to grant <br />permission to Mr. Emery to plant the shrubs and vines provided no <br />charge was made to the town, and provided ter. Ballard, who is in charge <br />of the Park Department, also agreed. <br />Norman Hooper was appointed a special police officer. Mr. Hooper <br />is in charge of the construction work on Bedford Street. <br />Decision on the granting of a gasoline permit to Maurice Ahern <br />was laid on the table until next meeting. <br />Hearing was declared open on the application of John W. McLearn, <br />185 Mass. Avenue., for permission to erect a private garage. No object- <br />ion was presented and the Board granted the permit. <br />The Board signed orders of taking for the following named streets; <br />Pelham Road, Carville Avenue, Highland Avenue, Arcadia Avenue,Oak <br />Street, Forest Street Extension, Cliffe Avenue, Grant Street and Wil- <br />son Avenue. <br />Hearing was held upon the application of the N. E. Tela & Tel. Co. <br />for permission to build a conduit in Woburn Street connecting with <br />Massachusetts Avenue conduit. <br />Letter was received from Daniel J. O'Connell in which he made <br />remarks about the possible condition of making changes. The letter was <br />-turned over to the Superintendent of Public Works to investigate <br />conditions and the Board voted to grant the location provided the <br />Superintendent of Public Works approved the same. <br />Hearing was declared open upon petition of the D. E. Tel. & Tel. <br />Co. for permission to install a manhole at Vine and Woburn Streets and <br />underground conduit 16o' easterly and 560' westerly on Woburn Street. <br />No objection was made and the Board voted to grant the permit. <br />Hearing was declared open upon petition of Ida H. B. Capper of <br />Middle Street and Waltham Streets diagonally opposite the Janney <br />Gasoline Station. Mr. and Mrs. Capper were present at the hearing, <br />and laid before the Board plans bf the proposed location and building, <br />
