320 <br />SPECIAL MEETING, MAY 70 1926. "17 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Sele toren was held in the ' <br />Selectmen's Room Town. Hall, 'Lexington, on Friday, May 7. ,1926, at <br />5 P.M. Messrs. 6ustance,' Burnham, Miles, and Robertson were present; <br />the Superintendent of Public Works and the clerk were also present. <br />Mr. Drew, President of the Middlesex & Boston St. Ry. Co., <br />Mr. Hanson, General Manager, and Mr. Griffin, Superintendent of the <br />local division, came before the Board to discuss the problem of <br />transportation. <br />They gave statements as to the number of passengers carried on <br />th®zones from Arlington Heights to Concord. They made statements in <br />regard to the reliability of the Lovell Bus Line, Inc. to give <br />service on, the State Road and make it pay. They felt Haat there was <br />something underlying his proposition. <br />The substance of their proposition' to the Board was that .�hsy <br />would rather not give any service on the State Road. They could not <br />give hourly service from Concord to Arlington Heights. They were <br />willing to cooperate and give some service to the people of the vicinity ; <br />of the State Road, but they suggested their trips from Arlington Heights <br />to Lexington Center thence over Waltham Street to the State Road and <br />up the State Road to Five Forks corner giving service in the morning <br />and evening and, if necessary, through the day. They also felt they <br />c oul d make connection with the Lovell Bus in Concord. <br />The Bdecided to take up the matter at their meeting on Tuesday <br />evening, May 11.
