2614 <br />SPECIAL 1,4EETI14G, OCTOBER 2001925 ' <br />A special meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in <br />the Selectments Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, October <br />20,1925, at 8 P. I.'. The following members of the Board were <br />present, Messrs. Hutchinson, Burnham, Custance, I"oulton and <br />Miles. The Supt, of Public ''forks and ysslt Clerk were also <br />present. <br />The hearing which was postponed from last week on <br />Joseph Road, a street running from I;iass. Avenue between Maple <br />and Curve Streets through the Parsons property. The Planning <br />Board arrived at decision and `.r. Frederick L. Emery, Chairman, <br />was present to represent the Planning 'Board and presented a <br />sketch of plan agreeable to both parties. The 3oard agreed <br />to sign this plan when the finished product was presented to <br />them. <br />Bartlett J. Harrington of 11 Curve Street, a local <br />contractor, came before the Board in reference to the bid being <br />let for the sidewalk work in front of the High School. He felt <br />that he did not have a chance to bid and that the bid was let <br />at an early date. He felt that specifications should be sealt' <br />ewA sent out because he did not think that the work being <br />done for $2.75 per sq yd was good work. There seemed to be <br />some misunderstanding about the matter and in order to straight- <br />ening out any misunderstanding in the future, the Board re- <br />quested the Superintendent to make out specifications for <br />the sidewalk wook and either send out specifications asking <br />for bids or advertising for bids. <br />Melvin W. Hinds formerly of North Lexington, came before <br />the Board in reference to ',_is application for a pool room <br />license. He desired to do business at what was formerly the <br />Knights of Columbus hall. <br />The Board saw no objections to the pool and billard room <br />and Pair. Binds promised to keep an upright place of business. <br />The Board therefore voted to grant the license. <br />Edson :. Pero a new employee of the school department <br />was appointed a Special Police Officer. <br />The Supt, of Public Works reported that he had had <br />a consultation with the officials of the Boston & ivaine RR. Co. <br />and found that to widening the crossing at Bow Street would <br />cost, in the neighborhood of ',7805,and in order to avoid further <br />expense of appointing a Commission in the matter, he suggested <br />that both parties, the Town and the Boston & i.:aine RR. pay ' <br />one half the expense involved. <br />This settlement seemed satisfactory to the Board and <br />authorized the.Supt. to settle on that basis if possible. <br />The Supt, asked whether or not a bond of "3000 would <br />
