262 "C7 MEETING, OCTOBER 1351925 ' A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, October 13, 1925, at 8 P.M. The following members of the Board were present, Messrs. Hutchinson, Burnham, Custance, Miles and-loulton. The Supt, of Public Works and Ass't Clerk were also present. Dr. W. L. Barnes, who owns property on Fletcher Avenue, came before the Board in regard to covering over that part of Vine Brook which runs through his property and putting in a pipe for the wator to run through. He wanted to put in a 24 inch pipe which he thought sufficient. He was informed by the hoard that 24 inch pipe would by no means be sufficient. They informed him that they would have the engineer look at the brook and inform him what size should be placed in the brook. Dr. Barnes objected to the expense of putting in a larger pipe, but the Board felt he should take the advice of the engineering department. Hearing was opened upon application of Pichette and Ahern for approval of plans of Joseph Goad in East Lexington. Both ?3r. Ahern and Mr. Pichette were present. '"lord was received from the Planning Board that they (%ranted to study further the matter of an entrance across this property to the meadow. As Mr. Pichette was very anxious to get the work started on the road and the Board saw no objections to the lays ut of the road he had planned they tentatively approvgii;he plan and requested the Planning Board to make a report on Tuesday next when the Board would hold a special meeting to,apprcve the plan. Mr. Fred C. Austin of the Salvation Army came before the Board to request permission to hold a Tag Day on Oct. 24th. The Board had no objection and voted to grant permission. Samuel B. Rome appeared before the Board asking permission for a Sunday Sales License at 21 Mass. Avenue, East Lexington, The Board requested references from 17,11r. Rome and voted that upon investigation if references proved -good they would grant the license. Mr. John C. Phelps of 42 Percy Road, came before the Board in reference to his application for permission to erect a building to be used for a sales and service station on the vacant land between the Lexington Lumber Co. prope-ty and the Stucko house on Bedford Street. Considerable objection from the neighbors was made but owing to the fact that the property is located in the business section according; to the Zoning Laws the Board felt that it could not be objectionable if a building of the type of which plans were submitted to the Board was erected. After considering the matter and scanning the plans Presented by i,ir. Phelps the Board voted to grant a permit to Mr. Phelps to erect the building on Bedford Street. 1 U
