262 <br />"C7 <br />MEETING, OCTOBER 1351925 ' <br />A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the <br />Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, October 13, <br />1925, at 8 P.M. The following members of the Board were present, <br />Messrs. Hutchinson, Burnham, Custance, Miles and-loulton. The <br />Supt, of Public Works and Ass't Clerk were also present. <br />Dr. W. L. Barnes, who owns property on Fletcher Avenue, <br />came before the Board in regard to covering over that part of <br />Vine Brook which runs through his property and putting in a <br />pipe for the wator to run through. He wanted to put in a 24 inch <br />pipe which he thought sufficient. He was informed by the hoard <br />that 24 inch pipe would by no means be sufficient. They informed <br />him that they would have the engineer look at the brook and inform <br />him what size should be placed in the brook. Dr. Barnes objected <br />to the expense of putting in a larger pipe, but the Board felt <br />he should take the advice of the engineering department. <br />Hearing was opened upon application of Pichette and Ahern <br />for approval of plans of Joseph Goad in East Lexington. <br />Both ?3r. Ahern and Mr. Pichette were present. '"lord was <br />received from the Planning Board that they (%ranted to study <br />further the matter of an entrance across this property to the <br />meadow. As Mr. Pichette was very anxious to get the work started <br />on the road and the Board saw no objections to the lays ut of the <br />road he had planned they tentatively approvgii;he plan and <br />requested the Planning Board to make a report on Tuesday next <br />when the Board would hold a special meeting to,apprcve the plan. <br />Mr. Fred C. Austin of the Salvation Army came before the <br />Board to request permission to hold a Tag Day on Oct. 24th. <br />The Board had no objection and voted to grant permission. <br />Samuel B. Rome appeared before the Board asking permission <br />for a Sunday Sales License at 21 Mass. Avenue, East Lexington, <br />The Board requested references from 17,11r. Rome and voted that upon <br />investigation if references proved -good they would grant the <br />license. <br />Mr. John C. Phelps of 42 Percy Road, came before the <br />Board in reference to his application for permission to erect a <br />building to be used for a sales and service station on the vacant <br />land between the Lexington Lumber Co. prope-ty and the Stucko <br />house on Bedford Street. <br />Considerable objection from the neighbors was made but <br />owing to the fact that the property is located in the business <br />section according; to the Zoning Laws the Board felt that it <br />could not be objectionable if a building of the type of which <br />plans were submitted to the Board was erected. <br />After considering the matter and scanning the plans <br />Presented by i,ir.
