242 M? <br />MEETING, NNE 9, 1925. ' <br />A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the <br />Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, June 9, <br />1925, at 8 P. M. The following members of the Board were pre- <br />sent, Messrs. Burnham and Custance. <br />No official action was taken on subjects owing to the <br />fact that only two members of the Board were present. <br />Owing to the fact that Hugh D. McIntosh had been granted a <br />Building Permit for his store, which was just outside of the <br />business system of the Zoning Law, before the Zoning Law went <br />into effect, it was decided to grant him a permit for a Common <br />Victualler's License. <br />Request was received from Mrs. T. L. Jenks of Concord Ave., <br />for an electric light near her home. <br />Upon investigation it was found that her property was not <br />on the public highway and that a light could not be placed <br />on the private property. <br />Sydney R. Wrightington, Town Counsel, came before the ' <br />Board and informed them that $p500 had been left to the Town <br />and that no specific purpose had been stated for its use. <br />It was decided to insert an article in the Warrant asking <br />that the town accept this fund as the Orrin Fiske fund, in <br />honor of the name of the donor. <br />The Town Counsel was asked to give an opinion as'to whether <br />or not the town advertising could legally be placed in the <br />Lexington Minute -man rather that. the Lexington Times. <br />It was decided to insert an article in the Warrant asking <br />that the former Selectmen, namely Albert B. Tenney, Joseph R. <br />Cotton, William S. Scamman and Sallie C. Blake be reimbursed <br />$50 for legal services paid by them to Johnson, Clapp, Ives <br />and Knight to protect themselves from action brought by Daniel <br />J. O'Connell in the case of McCaffrey vs Town of Lexington. <br />Permission was granted to the Middlesex & Boston St. Rwy Co. <br />to run busses on Clarke Street and Forest and Muzzey Streets <br />during the week of the Pageant. <br />The Supt. of Public Works announced that the bids for <br />the sewer on Hancock Street were rec_uested and would be received <br />at a later date. <br />Letter was received from Mrs. George H. Jackson of ' <br />34 Parker Street,,thanking the Board for the flowers sent in <br />memory of her husband who was an ex Assessor of the town for <br />a number.of years. <br />
