MEETIir C , FEBRUARY 10, 1925 .
A meeting of the Board of Selectmen war held in the Selectmen' s
Room, Town hall , Lexington , on Tuesday, February 10, 1925 , at
8 P . ThE following members of the Board were present
Meyers . Burnham, Cuetance , biles and lutchinson . The Supt . of
Public iiorks and xre' t Town Clerk were also present.
hearing was declared open upon petition of iueil McIntosh
of middle .-treet for approval of plans of Cary Street on the
Cary Farm property .
Mr. kcintorh formerly presented a plan showing lay out
of sever;1 rtreete on this property. Lhir plan not, having been
approvedthe board he prevented the plan of Cary Street which
is already a thoroughfare from Middle Street to Shade Street .
kr . iclntoeh stated that he must now sell the property
in small fame ar he would not have time to get the prorerty
ready for sale .
The Board approved the plan of Cary Street .
The Board signed the Warrant for the annual Town Meeting
' to be held march 2 , 1925 .
Aar . Y,illard C. hill came before the Board in regard to the
placing of insurance on the high School Building . He stated
that he had received communication from ir. W. H Ballard,
Chairman of the School Building Committee , authorizing him to
place insurance to the amount of 5100,000 binding same on the
new high school beim constructed.
kr . hill presented figurer Riving the premium for five
years on $250,000 - a premium of . 4369 .85 .
The Board authorized Mr . Hill to bind an additional amount
making the total $120,000 , and agreed to notify him of additional
amounts in the future when notification was received.
: r . Ballard agreed to notify the Board when the payments
toward construction on the building were made .
kr . Hill agreed to give the Board figures as to the cost,
of placing the insurance on the blanket. He also called
attention to the fact that fire extinoiAeherr rere necerrary
in order that the insurance rate be kept low . ,a.r. Hill war
authorized by the Board to consult with mr. Ballard and the
architect for the baildin R in an endeavor to obtain the necerrary
additions t at would lower the schedule rate .
.. oreph R. Cotton, Francir Burke and Roland Garm®n, committee
from the Hme_ rican Legion, came before the Board with reference
to inverting an article in the „arrant to see if the Town would
ret aside the rum of $3 ,617 .89 under the provisions of Charter 480
of the r►ctr of 1924 rroviding for the return of funds collected

for adcitional poll taxes .
The chief of Police came before the hoard and rtated that
three of hie men were off duty on account of illnerr and that
a min had to be stationed with a prirbner at nrlirgton bymmer
Hospital , and asking that an extra man to watch the prisoner be
obtained. kr. ccamman was reauerted to obtain someone to assirt.
The Board voted to recommend an increase in pay to tndrew
Bain, Plumbing Inspector , eo that he will receive , 1000.
the exteneior of forest :street war dircurred , an article
inverted in the Warrant, and hr. eurtance agreed to see the owners
of property abutting along the street in an erdeavor to have their
cooperation, that the rtreet may be accepted under the Betterment
tact.

The Board felt that thin v^.oald be ertablirhirp a precedent
and therefore voted not to grant the licence .

The Supt. of Public .+orkr war resuerted to look into the
matter to see if this place ^•ar " thin the burinPre district,
correspondence war received from the L.hairman of the
Planning Board in regard to Forest Street E tension urgir t that
this extension be made so that it could bP opened up b- ..pril lath.
Letter war also received from • r . emery asking that the
Engineers be reoue rted to place upon the large to-,11 map such topo-
graphic detail up t _ey have on hand and alro that they be requested
to pet topographic data in connection with plots of land that
will appear for development .
i-r . Emfry ' Ex!" informed that the board would request the
departtent to do this when it war clr.venient for them to obtain
the inform#.ion.
Letter wae received from Galen n huerell , h-a.irman of the
concerrione Committee of the One Hurdred F ft eth ynn��-errary
of the Battle of Le,`rgton, in which they arced that the Board
refrain from granting permits to cell goods on the town land and
that the power to grant the locations be given to the Ooncerrione
Committee with the approval of the laa5 Town Committee .
Letter was received from rrederick I . -,mery in regard to
conditions along the boulevard enter. c the play ereundr from
aitham Street . le rtated that it may become necerrary to make
certain changes and stated that he would irform the ao_.rd of the
conditions.
