MEFTING, MAY 27, 1924. <br />' A regular meeting of the Board of Selectrpn was held in the <br />Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, May 27,. 1924, at <br />8 P. M. The following members of the Board were present; namely, <br />Messrs. Burnham, Moulton, Custance, Hutchinson and Miles, The Ass t <br />Town Clerk was also,present. <br />Hearing was declared open on application of Fred T. Boyd of Cedar <br />Street, for. permission to erect a one car garage on his premises, <br />No persons a.ppeared.to object and it was therefore voted to grant <br />the license, <br />Hearing was declared open upon petition of James A. Bean, of <br />Parker Street for permission to maintain a public garage at his <br />premises. <br />Several of the re3idents in the vicinity complained that their <br />insurance rates have been increased on account of the fire hazard <br />caused "by Mr. Bean's garage not being fire proof. They all objected <br />strenously to the garage walls being made fire proof if the ceiling <br />was not to be. <br />The Board decided to take the matter up with the State Fire <br />Marshall so that he could advise just what should be done to make <br />this building comply with the law. <br />Hearing was declared open upon the petition of Warren S. Griswold <br />' for approval of plsns of Section 4 Park Heights, <br />Mr. Griswold and his Engineer and Attorney Joseph G. Brier of <br />Boston, appeared for the petition, <br />Several of the land owners in the vicinity appeared as interested <br />parties. <br />Mr. Steckroski was the principal objector. lie did not see why <br />the lines of street laid out over his property should be laid out so <br />they would take so much land. <br />It was explained to Mr. Steckroski that the lay out of street <br />over his land might never come to pass, but he felt that he should <br />now have protection against the future. <br />It was decided to postpone this hearing until next Tuesday even- <br />ing and ask the Planning Board to be present so that some definite <br />agreement might be had that would please all concerned, <br />Innholder' s License was granted to George S. MacAlpine to operate <br />Wildacre Inn, Percy Road. <br />Letter was received from Willard C. Hill of Elmer A. Lord X Co. <br />in regard to placing $170,130 additional insurance on Town of Lexing- <br />ton blanket form. He stated that he was binding this amount and <br />would like to know the permanent amount he would receive. <br />The Board did not reply to Mr. Hill's letter as they felt he <br />understood the matter would be held in abeyance until the town <br />meeting. <br />'Daniel J. O'Connell came before the Board to see if they had any <br />objections to his tearing out the walls of the old Valentine block <br />next to the town hall and putting ix trick walls. He stated that the <br />work would be done in accordance with the Building Laws and that it <br />would improve the section a great deal. <br />The Board saw no objection as long se the work was to be done in <br />accordance with the Building Law. <br />
