1'77 <br />,MEETING, MAY 20, 1924. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the <br />Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, May 200 19240 at <br />8 P. M. The following members of the Board were present; namely <br />Messrs, Burnham, Moulton, Custance, Hutchinson and Miles, The Town <br />Clerk and the Town Counsel were also present, <br />Board of Survey hearing was declared open upon the application of <br />',barren S. Griswold for approval of plans showing lay out of land in <br />North Lexington, off Bedford Street, known as Park Heights, Section 4. <br />Several persons appeared who were interested in the lay out, The <br />Planning Board, however, were not able to make a report -at this time <br />on the matter and the hearing was therefor postponed, the Board <br />agreeing to notify the persons present of the time of postponement, <br />Permit was granted to Mrs. Andrew Hanson of Valley Road for per- <br />mission to erect a one car garage on her premises, <br />Permit wee granted to Ralph H. Marshall to build a two car garage <br />at Hayes Avenue. <br />The High School Cadets requested the use of the Town Hall on <br />May 23rd, free of charge. The Board agreed to allow them the use of <br />the heli provided they would pay for the lights, which charge was <br />$3.00 <br />Willard C. Hill, or Elmer A, Lord & Co. came before the Hoard <br />relative to increasing the amoun tof insurance on the Town property <br />and applying for a new blanket rate, <br />The buildings having been revalued by Mr. A. C. Whitney end Mr. <br />Timothy H. O'Connor, the total valuation of the buildings now amounts <br />to $956585.00. <br />Mr. Hill was requested to bind insurance temporarily for the <br />difference between $719,700 now carried and the new amount. <br />Letter wns received from Frank H. Reed of Lowell St. in which he <br />stP.ted that he did not think there was any question about the fact <br />the.t his cows were bitten by dogs because they died of rabies, Co_0y <br />of Mr. Reed's letter was sent to the County asking their opinion on <br />whether or not they believed Mr. Reed was entitled to his claim. <br />Dr. James J. Walsh was instructed to send Charles DPlfino, <br />1:) yrs, of Sand Pit Rd. to the Cambridge Tuberculosis Hospital, <br />The Middlesex & Boston Street Railway Company were granted per- <br />mission to maintain a garage and install an underground gasoline tank <br />with a capacity of 10,000 gallons. <br />Letter was received from Charles E. Bentley of 491 Mass. Ave., <br />in regard to bills sent to him for care of his children, Mr. Bent- <br />ley explained that he had P large family and meny bills to pay and <br />he would be glad to pay as much as possible. <br />The Boe.rd decided to give Mr. Bentley more time to pay his bills. <br />Edwin B. Worthen informed the Board that there were about 500 <br />copies of births, marriages and deaths to be distributed as he <br />suggested to the libraries of the country. <br />
