I U -N <br />ILEET111G,MARCH 25, 1924. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen waa•held in <br />the Selectmen's Room. Town Mall, Lexington, on Tuesday, March 25, <br />1924, at 8:00 P. M. The following members of the Board were present, <br />namely, Messrs. Burnham, Hutchinson,Ioulton, Custance and Miles. <br />The Town Counsel and Ass►t Town Clerk were also present. <br />I <br />The following men were drawn as Jurors; William Kendall, <br />Bedford St; William A. Sandison, 217 Bedford Street; GeorFe IT. <br />Jackson, 34 Parker Street. <br />Hearing was declared open upon the application of William A. <br />Granfield of 62 Palmer St. Arlington, for permission to erect and <br />maintain a gasoline station at the corner of Spring and Middle <br />1 Streets. <br />Mr. Granfield appeared for his petition and no one appeared <br />against the petition. <br />After discussing the matter the Board unanimously voted <br />not to grant the license. <br />The following special police were appointed: # <br />' The case of Mildred Foley of 91 Butler Avenue, having been <br />called to the attention of the Board by the Clerk, the Board voted <br />to allow Mrs. Foley $8 per week and Rent, $16.13 per month, and the <br />abatement of her water bill. <br />Mrs. Foley's husband was committed to jail on March 17th <br />for six months for assault on a 14 year old girl. They are paying <br />for a home to the Arlington Cooperative bank. Mra Foley is about <br />to be confined in June and is unable to earn any money on account <br />of caring for her three children. <br />1` <br />Report was received from the Chief of Police regarding <br />the sign calling attention to school children which the Board asked <br />him to investigate. The Chief advised the Board that he had an <br />officer stationed at Clarke Street during the time that children <br />were let out from school except when the officer was called away <br />on an emergency. He thought a sign might be placed near Meriam <br />Street, <br />The Board decided to leave this matter to the Supt. of <br />Public 'forks. <br /># Special Police. <br />Mark Dodd <br />Thomas F.
