136 <br />MUTING, FEBRUARY 12, 1924. , <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in <br />the Selectmen's Rooms Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesdays Feb. 12, <br />1924 at 8:00 P. li. The following members of the Board were pre- <br />sent; namely: Messrs. Scamman, Hutchinson and Burnham. The Town <br />Clerk and Asst Town Clerk were also present and the Town Counsel <br />was present the first part of the evening. <br />Invitation was received from James M. Curley to attend <br />the Washington -Lincoln Memorial Exercises in Symphony Hall on <br />February 17, 1924 at 3 o'clock P. M. <br />Bill of $10 from Dr. Fred S. Piper for damage to his <br />car on account of limb hanging over the street on East Street <br />was approved by the Board. <br />The Board believed that Dr. Piper should recover for the <br />damage to his car owing to the fact that the accident occurred <br />as a result of an obstruction in the highway and war no fault of <br />his. <br />Fred L. Lord was drawn as a Juror in the Civil Session. <br />Hearing was held on the application of George H. Peterson, ' <br />41 daltham St, Lexington, for permission to erect and maintain a <br />garage was held. No one appeared to object and the Board voted <br />to grant the license. <br />Notice wan received from the Mayor of Medford in which they <br />informed the Board that H. LaRue Brown was employed as attorney <br />by the allied towns and cities in fighting for a reduction in train <br />rates. <br />Francis J. Toys and William J. Marshall came before the <br />Board with the request that an article be inverted in the Warrant <br />for the annual town meeting relative to the collection of garbage. <br />The Town �,ouneel drew an article. <br />The condi t f on of Clara Bane, inmate of the Almshouse, -N-ae <br />condidered. Miss Dan's Pieter who liver in New Jersey wanted to <br />take Clara to live with her. Upon investigation it was found that <br />another sister claimed the should be reetrained. The Board, there- <br />fore, requested Dr. Fred S. Piper and Dr. Henry C. Valentine to <br />examine Mies mane and report as to whether or not she should be <br />restrained. The Board also decided to consult her relatives$ <br />to whether or not they could pay something toward her board. <br />Matters relative to the water department were brought <br />before the Board by the Supt. of Public 6orke, ouch an the bill ' <br />for work on the Hunt property. The Supt. stated that Mr. Hunt <br />declined to pay hie bill. The Board, therefore, instructed him <br />to place the bill in the hands of the Town Counsel for collection.*. <br />This bill was for construction of sewer IV Wallace Court, <br />
