3 <br />I <br />SFr:CI ,L IrIEE'TINCI , JA UARY 16 ,1924 . <br />A special meeting; of the Board of Selectmen was held in <br />the Selectmen's Room, Tovm hall, Lexington, on Wednesday, <br />January le, 1924, at 9:50 F. �— The follo,ving members of the <br />Board were prevent: namely, iersrs, Scamman, 31ake, Burnha-d and <br />Moulton; the Town Clerk was also prevent. <br />After consideration of the hearing on the discharge of <br />Andrew T. Bain, the Board voted not to sustain the charges. The <br />Board also notified ir. Bain that they felt hir work was done in <br />a proper manner and that they ref,retted to lose his services <br />inasmuchas he declined to verve further under Superintendent Rove <br />or Superintendent Harrison. <br />Petition of the Edivon Elec. Ave. <br />near t;ii.ddle ::street was granted. <br />ar. harrivon had requested that the compiling of the Town <br />Report be turned over to the Town clerk after he had started the <br />rale. The Board, however, informed him that he must firish the <br />work as he had started it, he was also requested to report the- <br />' Department delinquents on the 'Town Reports by Tuesday next. <br />Discussion of the way of handling the water department <br />affairs was entered into with the Supt. of Public +Yorke. <br />Mr. Blake prepared some ruler which he felt should be put into <br />effect, and which read as follows: <br />method of Handling dater Bills by the Tax Collector <br />and According to the By -Laws of the Town of Lexington. <br />+eater Department will take voting list, and put oppo7ite <br />the name, the amount of water bills Due. Thin would be the Tax <br />collector's warrant. <br />If Special .attention is desired on any particular amount, <br />Let the Memorandum be put in Red, with explanations. <br />3i.11e to be rent out by the 4ater Department as heretofore, <br />and the Warrant gi-*en to the Tax Collector as stated above. <br />As paymente are made, the name can be crossed off of the <br />'Warrant in Red pencil. <br />Then the time of payment has expired, said 00arrant is <br />returned by the Tax Collector to the Water Department for final <br />notice. Lhia notice is that "Unless tax is paid within ten days, <br />the water will be shut off." <br />After the notice is rent out, the warrant it again returned <br />to the Tax Collect -r and after the ten days have expired, and any <br />' water tax is still remaining unpaid, the Tax Collector returns <br />the war -rant to the eater Department for final action on their <br />part, i e. turning off the water service. <br />The Town by-laws state plainly what may be done to pr-)perty <br />owners l+ho neglect to pay their water charger.
