Eliot Hadley, Editor of the Lexington Times, came before <br />- <br />the Board to find out 'Trh'v the Lexington By -Laws -i,,-re not printed <br />in his paper as he believed his to be the only ^arer that they <br />could legally be printed in, instead of in the Lexington :;inute-man. <br />The matter was diecdeeed by the Board and it was decided to <br />ask the town counsel's opinion as to whether or not the action of <br />the committee in printing the By -Laws in the Minute -man was legal. <br />A letter was therefor written to the Town'Couneel asking his opinion <br />at a very early date so that the printing could be done legally. <br />Letter was mailed on the 30th instant and copy given to Yr. Hatch <br />member of the By -Law Committee. <br />The Board appointed the following as the April 19th Celebration <br />Co=ittee: Alfred Pierce - (Requested to call meeting) <br />Prank E . Redman <br />John �iciiearney <br />Notification was received frcij State Fore^ter, OF.A.L.Bazeley, <br />that the expenditure for gypsy and brown tail moths this year may <br />be $4352.68 <br />K Bowling Alley License was granted to Fred B. Bartlett to <br />do business at 466 lass. Ave. 1hie is a transfer of the License <br />formerl-r granted to Conrad nor.zano. <br />Common Victuallers License was granted to Rufus ':`. Blake to <br />do businerc at 446 Lace. Avenue. <br />Letter was received from.the Supt of Public +orko in which he <br />reco.nmended the appointment of Albert Ross of Lexington as _acting <br />Superintendent of 3treete, .rater and Sewer. <br />The Board believing that he was the most efficient of the <br />candidates for the position., voted to appoint him as Acting Supt, <br />at a eal�:ry at the rate of $,1900 pr. ,year. If hiE- services proved <br />eati^factory his appointment might be made permanent. <br />Letter wa-s re.cei­,red from Albert F. '++elsh, 'Town Counsel of <br />1powich, in which he congratulated the Board upon its appointment <br />of Edward Leavitt, former chief of Police of Ipswich. theletter <br />war acknowledged. <br />Certification of rates for Sergeant of Lexinfton Police,0ept. <br />were received from the civil service wept. as follows: <br />James U.
