YEETINC, JAN. 10, 1922. <br />All Members Present. <br />The records of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Hearing was declared open upon application of firs. Ida H.B. <br />Capper to erect a gasoline filling statd on at the southwesterly <br />corner of uialtham St. and the State Road with underground tanks <br />with a cqcpacity of 3000 gallons, 2500 to be gasoline and 500 <br />cylinder oils. <br />Ire. Capper made personal request that she be granted per- <br />mission to erect this filling station. <br />Ldr. Lyon Carter came before the Hoard stating that he came <br />as an outsider with no particular interest in the matter. <br />Mr. Carter, however, spoke in favor of the petition saying that <br />a Lexington tax payer should be allowed the privilege of using <br />her own land for a leIgate business, and that he saw no parti- <br />cular reason why an atdactive filling station would not be a <br />behefit rather than a detriment to the location. <br />Mr. Robert E. Burnett presented a written protest signed <br />by several of the residents in the vicinity. Muir. Burnett 10bjdeted <br />to applications for a filling station at this corner. previously. <br />Mr. McIntosh inquired whetter or not Mrs. Capper would set <br />the station back far enough from the corner with outlets on both <br />the State Rd. and Waltham St. <br />Mrs. Capper agreed to set the station back somewhere in the <br />vicinity of 150 feet. <br />No other persons appeared to object or to be in favor of <br />same: A letter of protest was received from Pyr. F. L. Emery. <br />The hearing was declared closed and the matter taken under <br />consideration. <br />Resignations were received from Yrs. A. C. 'iVhitney and <br />Mrs. William 7+. Reed as Trustees of the Gammell Legacy income <br />acting with the Overseers of the Poor. <br />In this connection it was voted to get the opinion of the <br />Town Counsel as to whether or not the acceptance of Chap. 107 <br />of the Acts of 1910 eliminated the appointment of two ladies to <br />expend the income of the Gamnmell Legacy. <br />The Town Counsel was requested to have his opinion on hand <br />by next Tuesday evening. No action was taken on the resignations. <br />Approval of the appointment of 0. J. Gorman as ;,doth Superin- <br />tendent and as Forest Warden was received from the State Forester. <br />' kr. Gorman was notified to that effect. <br />Application for the position of Building Inspector was <br />received from John McKay of 12 Fletcher Ave. No action was taken <br />on the matter. <br />
