53 <br />' MEETING, DEC. 139 1921. <br />All Members Present. <br />The records of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Mr. Scamman reported the fact that he viewed the location <br />of bill board for which application had been received for <br />erection by the Board of Public 'corks, on the Short property on <br />Waltham St, and outside of the general objection to bill boards <br />he could not see any special objection to this particular sign <br />being erected. <br />The Board of Public Works were therefor notified to that <br />effect. <br />Letter was received from Mr. D. B. Lewis in regard to the <br />bill for sidewalk work that was rendered to him on Dec. 20 1919. <br />Mr. Lewis stated that he thought the charge was excessive and <br />that if he paid $75 that would be sufficient. <br />The Board also considered the cost of sidewalk excessive <br />and voted to abate $23.10 making the charge to Mr. Lewis $75.00. <br />The Clerk was instructed to make an appointment with <br />Mr. Howard, of the Edison Company so that the Board may go over <br />Wilson Avenue and Cliff avenue in view of placing street lights <br />therein in accordance with the vote of the town passed Dec. 9,121. <br />Letter was sent to John N Cole, Chairman of the Highway <br />Division, Board of Public uyorks, giving the proposed program <br />which the Town desires to carry out in the improvement of streets <br />in the next few years, and asking for the co-operation of the State. <br />A copy of said letter was sent to Mr. Alfred L. Cutting, Chairman <br />County Commissioners, asking also for the co-operation of the <br />County in these matters. Copies of both letters were sent to <br />George W. Taylor. <br />Order for $4585.25 was signed by the Chairman for payment of <br />this amount to John A. Gaffey of Medford on account of work of <br />constructing Bedford St. this being the final payment for work <br />done. <br />Letter was written to !Lr. Gaffey in connection with the work <br />done on Bedford St. in which hie attention was called to some <br />ruts in the road -bed and the tendency of the road to break down <br />where it joins the street railway track. Mr. Gaffey was informed <br />that the Board expected he would sake good as to these matters <br />in the Spring. <br />Letter was written to the County Commissioners enclosing <br />' copy of final estimate of the construction of Bedford Street <br />amounting to $20982.27, and asking that the County contribute <br />its share as soon as possible. <br />
