1 MEETIYuG, NOV. 22, 1921,
All Members Present.
The records of the last meeting; were read and approved.
Mrs. Alice U. Miner came before the Board relative to her
application for a gasoline tank with a capacity of 1000 gallons
underground to be located at the corner of Lowell St. and
Bartlett Ave.
Mr. David H. Fulton, Lawyer and James E. Burke came before
the Board to protest against the granting of this license.
Mr. Fulton represented Mr. Harvey C. Wheeler of Lowell St.
He protested on the ground that a tank would be injurious to
future development of land in that section; that the street was
too narrow and a tank would only tend to congest traffic and
that it was a danger to children. He urged that the license be
not granted.
The hearing was declared closed and the Board voted not
to grant the license.
Mr. Hans Sorensen came before the Board in response to the
Request of the Board relative to the proposed garage on his pro-
perty. Mr. Sorensen explained that he could not erect a garage
on the other side of his house, as suggested by Mrs. Leary at
last weeks meeting, as there was a twenty foot drop on that side.
' After discussing the matter it was voted to grant Mr. Sor-
enson a license to erect a garage on his premises as designated.
Mr. William Murphy of 25 Mass. Ave. came before the Board
as a result of the hearing called on his application for a
public garage at his premises. The matter of reconstructing an
old building to be used as a garage was discussed with the Build-
ing Inspector. Mr. Murphy was informed that the building would
have to be fire proof. It was called to his attention that some
revisions were to be made in the Building laws and that the matter
would come up at the next town meeting. Mr. Murphy stated that
he was not in any particular hurry and that he would wait until
after the next meetigg and take the matter up again with the
Board.
Letter was received from the Lexington Gas Co, calling the
attention of the Board to the fact that there were only fourteen
customers on Bedford 5t. Hill St, Shirley St and Tewksbury St.,
although the Board anticipated that there would be upwards of one
hundred users if the main was extended up Bedford St.
Reply was made to the company that the Board was very much
surprised at this as there were more than fourteen names on the
petition to the company asking for gas. The Board also informed
the company that they would take the matter up with the persons
who so urgently requested the gas.
