1 <br />1 <br />L <br />MEETING, AUG. 309 1921. <br />All Members Present. <br />The records of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Mr. E. H. Rowe of Berwick Road was present and made a <br />request for a gravel sidewalk in front of his property on <br />Berwick Road to Mariam St. The Board voted to construct such <br />sidewalk, and Mr. Duffy, Supt. of Streets, was instructed to <br />have the work done. <br />The petition of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company <br />to attach its wires to the Middlesex & Boston St, Rwy Co. pole <br />at 51A Massachusetts Avenue never Bowker Street was granted. <br />The Board authorized a Temporary Loan of $50,000 to <br />mature before December 31, 1921 and the Treasurer was requested <br />to procure bids and submit to the Board right away. <br />Mr. Richards stated that he had ordered some parking <br />signs which are to be placed on Hancock St, in the vicinity <br />of the Hancock -Clarke House. <br />Letter was written to Baler, Carney, Liffler & Co. <br />confirming the order given by Mr. Richards over the 'phone <br />early Monday morning, Aug. 29, 1921 for Insurance covering <br />all employes at the Stone Crusher, which the Town is now <br />operating for the first time in four years. <br />Mr. Richards reported that Mr. Joseph L. Zuretti called <br />on him in regard to a notice he received from the Board that <br />he was operating a public carriage in Lexington without a <br />license. <br />Mr. Zuretti said he had a license from the City of <br />Boston, and 'ounsel advised him that he did not need another <br />license to do business in Lexington. <br />Letter was written Mr. Ryder, Town Counsel that the <br />Board desire to know, whether the Rules and Regulations he <br />drew up apply to this case. <br />Also. What constitutes a public carriage? <br />And an opinion as to whether or not under the Board <br />of Survey Act adopted by the Town, the Town can send a snow <br />plow over unaccepted streets which were laid out prior to <br />acceptance of the Act in 1911, and further whether the word- <br />ing of the statute as to the specific thing a Town may or <br />may not do on unaccepted streets includes the running of a <br />snow plow. <br />Board of Survey Act.
