-61 <br />MEETING, JULY 19. 1921. <br />All Members Present. <br />The records of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />A hearing was declared open upon petition of the New Eng- <br />land Telephone & Telegraph Co. for location of one pole on <br />Watertown Street, extending present line toward Bowman Street. <br />No persona appeared to object and the Board therefor <br />granted permission to erect the pole. <br />It was voted to grant a Common Victuallers License to <br />Hiram H. Whites to keep open the "Lunch Cart" at rear of <br />#,445 Mass. Avenue. <br />A letter was written to Chief Edward W. Taylor of the <br />Fire Department in which was enclosed a copy of Agreement <br />which was drawn up by the Town counsel for use of the Fire De- <br />partment. This Agreement should be used to protect the town <br />against a similar occurrence of a case such as the Chisholm <br />case and the Chief was requested to have the Contract executed <br />when employing outside labor. <br />Mr. F. 'd. biller and fir. Frank Locke came before the <br />Board with reference to the condition existing in the rear of <br />their houses on Winthrop Road, and asking that something be <br />done to remedy the conditions at once. <br />The TownEngineer made an investigation and found that <br />the pipe system which was laid in that section to take care of <br />the drainage was stopped up. <br />The question as to what department was responsible for <br />keeping this drain clear was determined by the Town Counsel, <br />he being of the opinion that it was the duty of the Water & <br />Sewer Department to keep all brooks clear. <br />A meeting was arranged for 'Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock <br />at which the Mater & Sewer Board. the Board of Health, Town <br />Engineer and Selectmen conferred as to the eoluation of remedy- <br />ing conditions immediately. <br />The Selectmen decided to 'draw a Warrant for a Town Meeting <br />on Monday. the 25th of July, the town meeting to be held on <br />August 4. 1921. <br />Articles covering the claim of Mary Chisholm as a result <br />of the death of her husband, were drawn up by the Town Counsel <br />to be inserted in the Warrant. <br />It was voted to grant John Rose a license to maintain the <br />garage upon which a hearing was held last week provided the <br />' Fire Marshall approved of the same. A copy of the letter Rent <br />to Mr. Rose was sent to the Chief of the Fire Department;. <br />The janitor was notified to give notice to the Clerk of <br />the Board when the Town hall is let so that the Board may be <br />posted in this matter. <br />
