CEC 2/13/08, 8:30am, TOB 111
David Kanter, Shirley Stolz, Ted Edson, Charles Lamb, Bill Hurley, Carl Valente,
George Burnell
Discussion of TOB Planning Study
Engineering is going to move out of the TOB in 14-15 months when DPW is done. They
want to reorganize the space and address code issues, including the sprinl~ler system in
the space currently occupied by the DPW.
The programming piece is $20K at the high end.
DK: concerned about building "on a par" with recent renovations. What's the motivation
for moving the "head end" here? A: it's not in a physically convenient location for 7x24
access.
CV: They might need to move people in the Town Manager's office to new space.
Recreation and Community Development are presently problems in their current space.
Assessor's Office is probably ok.
DK: concerned that programming phase wouldn't address major systems like elevator,
sprinkler, electrical systems, so why can't we address those questions in the first
(programming} phase?
CV: The only big issue is the moisture issue in the TOB. They're getting water in the
sub-basement.
TE: How's the PBC involved, and if not, why not?
CV: Would only be involved in the D&E phase. [CV] likes working with Fisher since
they're already familiar with the building.
CWL: CEC wants three phases for the project.
CV: Agrees, but only if there's a Fall STM and there's no guarantee of that.
S S : What will happen to the safe in Engineering?
CV: Not sure.
DK: Programming scope is too modest. Need to understand what the deficiencies are.
Sentiment: Bring project to Design Documents in the first phase.
