Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> November 1, 2017 <br /> Parker Room, Town Office Building <br /> Members Present <br /> Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Carol Flynn, Karen <br /> Gaughan, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Geetha Padaki, Sue Stering <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Glen Bassett, Dick Crogan, Mary Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Sondra Lucente, Sandy <br /> Podgorski, Gina Rada, Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales <br /> Business <br /> • The minutes of October 25, 2017 were approved. <br /> • The next meeting will be on November 8, 2017 in the Parker Room. <br /> • There will be NO meeting on November 15. <br /> Veterans Breakfast, Saturday, November 4, 2017 <br /> • Bill Mix reported that the Merchant Marine flag will not arrive in time for the Veterans <br /> Breakfast although it has been ordered. <br /> • Bill also reported that the Minutemen fifers will attend the breakfast and plan to play the service <br /> songs, but that Dick Crogan should still bring the recorded music just in case. <br /> • Lorain reported that she has the slide show disk. <br /> • Lorain reported that the Community Center has donated LexPress vouchers as a door prize at the <br /> breakfast. <br /> • Karen Gaughan reported that the sandwich board poster for the breakfast was installed in front <br /> of St. Brigid's last Sunday. <br /> • Set up for the breakfast will be on Friday, November 3, at 3 pm. <br /> • Committee members should be at St. Brigid's for the breakfast at 7:30 am, November 4. <br /> Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017 <br /> Ceremony in Cary Hall <br /> Sue Stering reported on the participation by High School students in the ceremony. <br /> • A total of 15 essays by Juniors were received and there is a plan to make a booklet of all the <br /> essays. <br /> • Four winning essays will be read at the ceremony. <br /> • Special seating for the students and their families will be provided at the ceremony. <br /> • All students who submitted entries will be invited to march in the parade and they will be <br /> invited to attend the ceremony with their families. <br /> • Kim Coburn will write thank you letters to all the students who submitted essays. <br /> • LexMedia is expected to air the ceremony live. <br /> Lorain reported that Michael Egbert, the High School teacher with whom the committee has been <br /> working, has organized a panel discussion by veterans at the High School on November 7, from 12:45 <br /> to 1:30. All TCC members are invited to attend. <br />
