Town of Lexington
Lexington Center Committee
Minutes, Meeting of October 121", 2017
Center Committee Members: Katherine Huang, Frederic Johnson, Pamela Lyons, Jerold
Michelson (chair), Pamela Shadley
Liaisons: Frank Smith, CEC, Melisa Tintocalis, EDD, Megan Zammuto
1. Michael Cronin, the new Director of Facilities gave us a visual presentation on the
current version of the proposed Visitors Center. Given that the price tag is still
considered to be too high, it was noted that it's going to be very hard to reduce the
design by 25%.
2. Megan told us that there would be a ribbon cutting for Zagster (bikeshare company)
on October 2711 at 9 am on the lawn of the Visitors Center.
3. Jerry discussed the need to understand what is permitted on town-owned land in the
Center. What is the criteria used by the Town Manager to allow or prohibit particular
uses? Locations include the Visitors Center lawn, Emery Park, and the Town
Conscience Land. A special permit is needed from the Town Manager's Office for any
use. The LCC would like to make sure that the criteria supports the BOS goals for the
Center. Jerry, Melisa and Pamela (L.) agreed to look into this.
4. It was noted that landlords are sprucing up the exterior of a number of properties in
the Center, for which we are all grateful. Also, vacancies in Concord seem to be filling
up.
