Town of Lexington, Lexington Center Committee <br /> Minutes for the September 28th, 2017 meeting. <br /> Lexington Center Committee members: Michael Boudett, Katherine Huang, Frederic Johnson, Howard <br /> Levin, Pamela Lyons, Jerry Michelson (Chair), Pamela Shadley. <br /> Liaisons: Frank Smith, CEC,Joe Pato, BOS, Melisa Tintocalis, EDD, Megan Zammuto, David <br /> Pinsonneault, DPW. <br /> Guests: Gerard Paul, Melinda Walker, Harry Forsdick. <br /> 1. David Pinsonneault: DPW is seeking funds for a survey of additional on-street parking. The <br /> Center Streetscape Project is proceeding with 25%design incorporating the modifications from <br /> the Ad Hoc Committee. DPW will be seeking 100% design funding at the 2018 Spring Town <br /> Meeting. Meanwhile DPW is engaged in repairs to streetlights, pruning, weeding and localized <br /> repairs to the brick sidewalks. Columbus Day marks the last weekend for which there is <br /> weekend trash pickup. The parklett furniture will be taken down. Jerry noted, correctly, that <br /> the bird droppings are piling up. <br /> 2. Melinda Walker, Chair of the Lexington Housing Partnership, and Gerry Paul discussed a <br /> proposal to build affordable senior housing in the Depot Lot in the area between Merriam <br /> Street and the ticket booth. <br /> The LCC voted 7-0 to "endorse the concept of obtaining a feasibility study for the possible use of <br /> senior focused housing and possible mixed use without the loss of parking in the center." <br /> 3. The LCC voted 6-Oto approve the minutes of the August, 2017 meeting. <br /> 4. Melisa Tintotcalis: The price tag for the most recent design for the Visitors Center is $4.3 <br /> million. <br /> The LCC voted 6-0 to "support additional design money for the Visitor's Center with the <br /> recommendation that the architect be given guidance in the amount of$2.5 to $3 million for <br /> construction costs" <br /> Melisa also raised concerns around town policies (zoning and historic) that thwart our efforts to <br /> increase vitality in the center. <br /> Megan Zammuto: The Bike Share program will launch this fall. Carl Valente is working with The <br /> Lexington Historical Society to do a land swap for the triangle that is in the "bike node" area. There <br /> was also some discussion about use of town land for various events-why some entities or uses are <br /> permitted but not others. <br />
