<br />Lexington Community Preservation Committee <br />Minutes January 18, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the chair, Betsey Weiss at 4:05 PM <br /> <br />Present: Leo McSweeney, Richard Pagett, Sandy Shaw, Wendy Manz, Betsey Weiss, <br />Marilyn Fenollosa, Norman Cohen, Joel Adler, and Dick Wolk <br /> <br />Unifying Signage: Research and advice of counsel indicates that this proposal is not <br />eligible for CPA funding. It was moved and adopted to inform the applicant of the <br />decision. In the event that conflicting advice becomes available the committee will <br />reconsider. Vote 8 to 0 in the affirmative. <br /> <br />East Lexington Library Study: It was moved and unanimously adopted to approve the <br />request of $43,000 for a study of the Stone Building. Vote 9 to 0 in the affirmative. <br /> <br /> <br />Cary Hall Renovation and Restoration as a Performance Center: <br />Moved and approved by a 5 to 4 vote that $88,000 be granted for a study of the hall to <br />include: a feasibility, impact, and operations analysis ($10,000); architectural concept and <br />performance studies ($70,000); and installation of blackout curtains ($8,000). However, <br />if the $10,000 feasibility, impact, and operations analysis shows that the project should <br />go no further, then the additional $70,000 for architectural concept and performance <br />studies will not be spent. <br />An additional motion was made and approved by a 6 to 3 vote to add an additional <br />$59,130 to the funding to include a stage extension ($20,000), motorized rigging batten <br />($20,000), lighting over stage extension ($15,000), a dimmer pack ($2,000), and a curtain <br />over the batten ($2,130). <br />Thus the sum total of the approved grant is $147,130 <br /> <br />West Lexington Greenway Corridor: <br />It was moved and unanimously approved by a vote of 9 to 0 to fund the proposal to <br />develop a master plan for connecting all of Lexington’s conservation lands west of I-95 <br />in a passive trail network. The project’s centerpiece will be the construction of a high- <br />quality connector trail between the Minuteman Bikeway and the Battle Road Trail in the <br />minuteman National Park. The approved amount is $125,000 <br /> <br />Douglas House: <br />Approval of a grant for $300,000 was voted 8 to 1. This amount will insure completion of <br />phase 1 of the project and result in the addition of 15 units of 40B certified housing to <br />Lexington’s affordable housing stock. <br /> <br /> <br />
