<br /> <br />COMMUNITY PRESERVATION COMMITTEE <br />Legion Room, Cary Memorial Hall <br />Thursday, April 3, 2008 <br />4:00 p.m <br />. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> Betsey Weiss, Chair; Joel Adler, Norm Cohen, Marilyn Fenollosa, Richard Pagett, Judy <br />Pearson, Sandy Shaw, Dick Wolk. David Kanter, CEC Liaison was also present. <br /> <br />Absent <br />: Wendy Manz, Leo McSweeney. <br /> <br />Betsey Weiss, Chair of the CPC called the meeting to order at 4:04 p.m. The agenda was as follows: <br /> <br />1. CPC Introduction, Survey and Define, and Parker Manor main points for 4/7 TM – <br />Betsey <br /> <br />Betsey reviewed her introduction and overview. She will highlight the Allowable Uses chart and <br />emphasize the role of the CPC. Betsey also reviewed her summary of Survey and Define. Joel <br />offered his main points on Parker Manor. <br /> <br />2. Munroe postponement – tentative date? – Norman <br /> <br />A postponement date was unknown. It was agreed that Betsey would type up the main points for <br />this project and send them to Joel, who will respond, if necessary. <br /> <br />At this point in the agenda, the Committee agreed to jump to agenda item #5 due to the fact that <br />one member of the CPC would need to leave early. <br /> <br />3. Agenda item #5 - An issue has come up that has to be voted on today before the Monday, <br />4/7 meeting – Norman <br />Norman Cohen made a motion to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing a matter <br />of litigation. The motion was supported unanimously by roll call vote. The motion also was clear <br />that the meeting would return to open session. <br /> <br />The open session resumed at 4:30 p.m. <br /> <br />4. Agenda item #3 – Land acquisition update – Dick <br /> <br />With the aide of maps, Dick reviewed four parcels of land owned by two parties – Goodwin and <br />Cataldo. These land parcels are identified in Articles 10, 11 and 13. The question before the CPC <br />is does the Committee want to support the purchase of Goodwin land for approximately $175,000 <br />and the purchase of Cataldo land for approximately $3,175,000? A public hearing on these land <br />parcels has been scheduled for April 29, 2008. <br /> <br />5. Agenda item #4 – The Minuteman article dated 4/3/08 on the four most expensive CPC <br />projects – Parker Manor, Old Harrington, Hancock and Munroe – Response? – Betsey <br /> <br />It was agreed that the article in the Minuteman was harmless, however, the editorial against Old <br />Harrington/School Administration Building was of more concern. <br /> <br />6. Other – Betsey <br /> <br />Betsey mentioned that in June or post-June she would like to meet with appropriate town officials <br />to discuss Municipal CPA projects and applications. Several shared that Municipal applications <br />need more information and greater detail in order for the CPC to make well informed decisions. <br />J. Pearson 2008-04-03-CPC-min 1 <br /> <br />
