<br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />January 25, 2017 <br />Parker Room, Town Offices Building <br />Members Present <br />Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Carol Flynn, Cerise <br />Jalelian, Sondra Lucente, Rich McDonough, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Geetha Padaki, <br />Sandy Podgorski. <br />Members not present <br />Glen Bassett, Dick Crogan, Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Paul Jenkins, Wayne Miller, Linda Levitt, <br />Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales <br />Business <br />The Chair reported that a quorum was present. <br />The minutes of the meeting of January 11, 2017 were approved as corrected. <br />The next meeting will be February 8, 2017. <br />Sondra passed on to the committee congratulations from attendees on the Veterans’ Day program. <br />Patriots Day, Monday, April 17, 2017 <br />Linda announced that a draft interactive parade application has been created and will be distributed <br />to the committee for review before it is posted. <br />Geetha reported that she has spoken to LexMedia and they said they could help with editing of a <br />video about Patriots’ Day activities. Bill Mix suggested that the Minutemen activities on the <br />Saturday before Patriots’ Day should be included in the video. Other suggestions for inclusion were <br />the Pancake Breakfasts and information about where people can get the full schedule. <br />Sandy reported that she got a quote for printing the 2017 schedules from the Town central printing <br />office but she thought the quote was high. She will get additional quotes from other vendors. <br />Committee members recommended that she look at vendors outside of Lexington for lower pricing. <br />Cerise reported that she has ordered proofs for all the Patriots’ Day tickets and tags. <br />Cerise also reported that Jimmy Wilson will host the Hallamore horses and that he will do a float <br />with the Minutemen. Steve Connors is working with Jimmy Wilson on the float. <br />Carol reported that she spoke with Bev Kelly about getting a second convertible for the Grand <br />Marshall for the parade. <br />Suzanne reported that she has started revising the sponsorship letter and list of sponsors needing <br />sponsorship donations. <br />Lorain suggested that we ask SNAP to participate in the parade and the suggestion was discussed by <br />the committee. <br />June Baer raised the issue of parking for visitors on Patriots’ Day. She suggested that the committee <br />might approach businesses on Hayden Avenue about using their parking lots for visitors, and also <br />suggested that a shuttle bus to carry visitors from Hayden Ave to the Town center might be <br />subsidized by the companies. Kim mentioned that we should not contact Shire because they are <br />currently in litigation with the Town. <br />Sandy suggested some other possible locations for parking with shuttle service. <br />Rich McDonough volunteered to talk with Grace Chapel about using their parking lots. He also <br />volunteered to talk with the Community Center about using their parking lot for visitor parking. <br /> <br />
