2012 Minuteman Cane Award Committee Meeting Monday, April 2, 2012 1 PM in Town Hall, Room G 15 The meeting was called to order at 1:05 PM. Those present- Dot Boggia, Chairman, Marie Hill, Sheldon Spector, Bob Edwards, Lodia Parilla, Dick Michelson, David Williams, Leo McSweeney, Dan Fenn and Beverly Kelley. The only member absent was Charlie Price. The minutes from the 2011 meeting were accepted. This is the 25th year of the Lexington Minuteman Cane Award. Don Graham, one of the former recipients, passed away this year. Lodia Parilla is moving from Lexington so she will no longer be on the committee. She was one of the fo4114-042o-f-the-Awitrd, and we thank her for her 25 years of service. a,.� :...� � .v,ht Burlington Trophy will engrave the cane and the plaque. Chris Venier will again donate the cane which he has done for the past 24 years. The car for the Patriot's Day Parade is all set. The banner for the car will be ordered. The party for this year's recipient will be on Tuesday, April 24 at 2 PM at the Senior Center. Dot will send out invitations to past recipients, town officials, the two newspapers, the FCOA Board, the COA Board and the Senior Center staff. We voted to go into Executive Session at 1:12 PM to discuss this year's nominees. The nominees were Aurio Pierro, Eleanor Smith, Phyllis Rand and Shirley Buck. Aurio and Eleanor were the two runners-up last year. We discussed each nominee in turn. When discussion ended, we wrote our choices on a card and handed them to Sheldon and Lodia who then left the room and tallied the results. The 2012 recipient of the Minuteman Cane Award was Aurio Pierro. The first runner-up was Eleanor Smith, followed by Phyllis Rand and Shirley Buck. Beverly Kelley offered to inform Aurio and she will let him know what to expect on Patriot's Day. Executive Session ended at 1:43. The meeting was adjourned at 1:44.
