<br />Lexington Human Rights Committee <br />Meeting Minutes – February 3, 2017 <br />Present <br />: Judy Crocker, Bonnie Brodner, Linda Vine, Al Zabin, Fuang-Ying Huang, <br />Pastor Brent Maracle, Bhumip Khasnabish, Norm Cohen – BOS,Lieutenant Jim Barry, <br />Koren Stembridge <br />Guests: <br /> Margaret Heitz, Joe Pato, Mona Ray, Stephanie Hsu, Philp Dolye, Tanya <br />Gisolh, Debbra Zucker, Mary Anton, Sarah Higginbotham, Candy McLaughlin. <br />Meeting was held at Lexington Community Center, Room 237 at 8:00. <br />The committee voted to have the Diversity Think Tank under its charge. Mrs. <br />Candy McLaughlin will facilitate the group. <br />The committee approved: <br />1.Letters of Support to Wayland, and to Lexington victims of last December <br />hate Crime. <br />2.Lexington Human Rights Resolution as modified in the meeting. <br />The committee discuss different courses of Bystander Training. <br />Departments Updates: <br />Cary Memorial Library <br />It now has gender neutral restrooms. <br />Co-hosted Chinese New Year celebration with CAAL. <br />New collections in multi Indian languages books and Korean book, and a new <br />Chinese librarian to curate Chinese books. <br />Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association <br />Hosted MLK Day Service with 150 attendees, a 50% increase from prior year. <br />Temple Isiah hosted conversation in races. <br />Will support Bystander Training by partial funding and providing facility for <br />trainings. <br />Police Dept. – No incidents reported and no updates on last December hate crime <br />as it is under investigation. <br />School Department <br />Bowman Elementary School hosted a conversation on Muslim. <br />In light of recent anti-immigrant sentiment, Superintendent Dr. Czaikowski sent a <br />letter to school community expressing her commitment to make Lexington public <br />schools safe and inclusive to all. <br /> <br />
