Town of Lexington <br />Tourism Committee <br />Dawn McKenna, Chair (781) 862 -0500 ext 84585 <br />Minutes <br />Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 4:30 — 6:00 pm <br />Parker Room (Lower level Town Office Building) <br />Members Present: Kerry Brandin, Margaret Coppe, Bebe Fallick, Jon Himmel, Dawn McKenna, Wim <br />Nij enberg <br />Staff Present: Megan Zammuto <br />Center Committee Liaison: Fred Johnson <br />Members Absent: Marsha Baker, Trisha Kennealy, Leeying Wu <br />1) Center Streetscape statement of support <br />Jon Himmel discussed a draft motion in support of the work done by the Center Streetscape Design Review <br />AdHoc Committee. Jon gave the committee an update on the work that has been completed to date, and the <br />effort to preserve the current character of the center. The committee discussed the Battle Green Master Plan. <br />The committee worked to edit the draft motion. The discussion also focused on brick sidewalks and cost of <br />materials. <br />A motion was made to convey the support of the Tourism Committee to the Center Streetscape Design Review <br />Adhoc Committee. The motion was seconded and supported unanimously. <br />2) Visitors Center Petition and funding <br />Dawn McKenna discussed the draft warrant article for a new Visitors Center. The committee discussed the <br />challenges and benefits of submitting the warrant as a committee or as an individual. It was decided that the <br />warrant will go forward as an individual petition with the support of several committee members. <br />A motion was made that the Tourism Committee would submit a citizens petition to fund the Visitors Center <br />project for the 2017 Annual Town Warrant. The motion was seconded and supported unanimously. <br />3) Minutes <br />The committee made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 9"' meeting. The motion was <br />seconded and voted unanimously. <br />4) Tourism Operations — Staff Updates <br />Megan Zammuto discussed the hiring process for the Liberty Ride Coordinator position. Three candidates <br />will be interviewed by a panel this week.
