Town of Lexington <br />Tourism Committee <br />Dawn McKenna, Chair (781) 862 -0500 ext 84585 <br />Minutes <br />Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 4:30 — 6:00 pm <br />Parker Room (Lower level Town Office Building) <br />Members Present: Kerry Brandin, Margaret Coppe, Bebe Fallick, Trisha Kennealy, Dawn McKenna, <br />Wim Nijenberg <br />Staff Present: Megan Zammuto <br />Center Committee Liaison: Fred Johnson <br />Members Absent: Marsha Baker, Jon Himmel, Trisha Kennealy, Leeying Wu <br />1) Town Report <br />Committee members reviewed the draft Town Report and made edits to the draft. Chair, Dawn <br />McKenna noted committee changes and made edits to the report. Committee members suggested edits <br />include adding statistics such as people counter data in the Visitors' Center, Liberty Ride ridership and <br />clarification on the "multiplier effect." Committee members discussed the committee charge. <br />2) Tourism Committee Operations — Staff Updates <br />Megan Zammuto updated the committee on the Liberty Ride hiring process, and a recent Greater <br />Merrimack Convention and Visitors Bureau survey. <br />3) Updates & Miscellaneous <br />Dawn McKenna gave the committee an update on several capital projects. Town staff has decided not to <br />coat the Minuteman Statue with a sealing agent. They will continue to thoroughly clean the statue. The <br />public works staff is also working on the Battle Green Master Plan and Antony Park. The Visitors' <br />Center is on the list of potential capital projects for the Town, however it is listed as unlikely to move <br />forward this year. <br />4) Committee Marketing Strategy <br />The committee discussed their role in tourism marketing with the operational tasks transferring to Town <br />staff The committee discussed their role in promoting and organizing events. The conversation also led <br />to the future of Revolutionary Revelry. The committee reviewed costs and attendance and discussed the <br />future of the program. Several members were interested in promoting events that are organized by other <br />partners in Lexington. Dawn McKenna asked the committee to think about the future of tourism in <br />Lexington, as well as their thoughts on Revolutionary Revelry. The goal is to take a vote to continue or <br />discontinue the program at the next meeting. The committee also discussed the role of public art in <br />Lexington.
