Town of Lexington <br />Tourism Committee <br />Dawn McKenna, Chair (781) 862 -0500 ext 84585 <br />Draft Minutes <br />Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 4:00 — 5:30 pm <br />Parker Room (Lower level Town Office Building) <br />Members Present: Kerry Brandin, Margaret Coppe, Jon Himmel, Trisha Kennealy, <br />Dawn McKenna, Wim Nijenberg, Leeying Wu <br />Members Absent: Marsha Baker <br />Staff Present: Megan Zammuto <br />Others Present: Fred Johnson, Richard Pagett <br />1) Website Discussion <br />The committee discussed the tourism committee webpage on the Town of Lexington website. Members <br />discussed possible improvements, including a warmer background or a color overlay. Some members <br />felt the look felt very dated, and it could be improved by hiring a photographer to have photos of the <br />town throughout the year. The committee decided to elevate the conversation to the Town Manager and <br />Selectmen. Members agreed that it should not have gone to design without approval from the <br />committee. The discussion included questions for the IT department, such as what are the limits of the <br />software? <br />A motion was made to pursue conversations with Town leadership to recommend a different website <br />strategy including a different look at feel. The motion was made by Trisha Kennealy and seconded by <br />Jon Himmel, it was approved unanimously. <br />2) Marketing <br />Local photographer David Tabling will do portraits and Revolutionary Revelry photos for the Tourism <br />Committee. Staff discussed a recent partnership with the GBCVB and Brand USA to promote Chinese <br />videos in China. <br />3) Revolutionary Revelry <br />The committee members discussed past Revolutionary Revelry events including Fitness Fridays. The <br />Chair asked the committee for volunteers to help staff and coordinate future events. <br />4) Liberty Ride /Battle Green Operations <br />Staff updated the committee on the operations of both the Liberty Ride and Battle Green programs, both <br />of which are going very well so far this season. <br />5) Tourism Committee Operations — Staff update <br />Megan updated the committee on a recent National Park Press release, presentation to Town Meeting, <br />and potential partnerships with the GMCVB. <br />6) Selectmen Goal Setting Recommendations from Tourism Committee <br />The committee discussed the Visitors Center and the Tourism operations transition.
