Town of Lexington <br />Economic Development Advisory Committee <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br /> <br />To: Lexington Select Board and Lexington Planning Board <br />cc: Sandhya Iyer, Economic Development Director; Sheila Page, Assistant Planning Director <br />From: Economic Development Advisory Committee <br />RE: EDAC Town Meeting Article Positions on Article 34 <br />Date: April 10, 2023 <br /> <br />At the Economic Development Advisory Committee meeting on April 10, 2023, the Committee <br />reviewed two amendments to be deliberated on at the 2023 Annual Town Meeting. The Committee <br />took the following positions on the articles they discussed: <br />Article 34 <br /> <br />• MOTION: The EDAC supports Article 34 pass as written. <br />o The EDAC members voted 5 in favor of Article 34 as written and 2 members against. <br /> <br />• MOTION: The EDAC recommends passage of the McKenna Amendment to Article 34 <br />approving multifamily housing to meeting the requirements of MBTA law. <br />o The EDAC members voted 2 in favor and 5 members against passage of the McKenna <br />Amendment. <br /> <br />• MOTION: If the McKenna Amendment is adopted, the EDAC encourages the Planning <br />Board and Select Board and other stakeholders to continue the engagement process to <br />adopting appropriate zoning controls for development of multifamily housing in Lexington <br />Center and other parcels identified by the Planning Board. <br />o The EDAC was unanimous in support of this recommendation. <br /> <br />• MOTION: Should the McKenna Amendment be adopted as the Substitute Motion, the <br />EDAC recommends passage of Article 34 as amended. <br />o The EDAC voted 3 for passage and 4 against passage of Article 34 as amended. <br /> <br />• MOTION: Should the McKenna Amendment be adopted as the Substitute Motion, the <br />EDAC recommends adoption of the Burger Amendment. <br />o The EDAC voted 5 in favor of the adoption of the Burger Amendment and 1 against. <br /> <br />• MOTION: Should the McKenna Amendment fail, and the main motion remains, the EDAC <br />recommends adoption of the Burger Amendment. <br />o The EDAC voted 5 for passage and 1 against adoption of the Burger Amendment to the <br />main motion. <br /> <br />
