Meet remotely Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) <br />July 6,2022 Meeting Minutes <br />Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk,the Semiquincentennial Commission <br />(Lex250)convened in a meeting via Zoom video conference on Wednesday,July 6,2022 at <br />3:36 pm as allowed by legislation (S.2475)extending the suspension of certain provisions of the <br />Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. <br />Present:Steve Conners (Reenactment Community),Cerise Jalelian (Town Celebrations <br />Committee Representative),Mona Roy (Community Representative),Jillian Tung (Music &Arts <br />Representative),Steve Cole (Community Representative),Bebe Fallick (Tourism Committee <br />Representative),Barry Cunha (Business Representative),Suzie Barry (Select Board Member) <br />1.The meeting was called to order at 3:36 pm by Ms.Barry. <br />2.A motion was made by Mr.Cunha to accept the minutes of the June 16 meeting.The <br />motion was seconded by Ms.Roy and approved by a roll call vote. <br />3.Ms.Barry provided an update of the status of state grant and budget update. <br />a.Request for funding for membership in Rev 250,the penny machine,and for <br />promotional items were not processed in time.Ms.Barry will discuss it further <br />with the town manager. <br />b.At the next Select Board meeting at July 25,Shields will provide an overview of <br />their proposed work <br />c.Additional funding needed for the website may come from ARPA funding. <br />4.Ms.Barry met with Henry Dane of Concord 250,an eleven -member commission and <br />noted that in their structure,each commission member chairs a working group. <br />5.Ms.Barry led a discussion about timing of events during Patriots Day weekend of 2025. <br />a.Concord would like Lexington to have all of our events on Saturday.Pros and <br />cons were discussed. <br />i.Mr.Conners said that the reenactment community is strategizing timing of <br />important components,and that participation in the reenactment may be <br />greater on Saturday. <br />ii.Mr.Cole shared that compressing the time frame may present safety <br />concerns. <br />iii.Mr.Cunha said that a choice to move all events to Saturday may not be <br />popular among community members. <br />iv.Ms.Barry suggested that we discuss timing further with community <br />members at our October kick-off meeting <br />v.We discussed the possibility of collaborating with Concord on publicity. <br />6.Ms.Barry indicated that we need to make a brief (5 minutes)presentation at the Select <br />Board meeting on July 25.The presentation should include an update regarding our <br />activities and plans to date and should include a short slide set.Steve Cole,Steve <br />Conners,and Mona Roy volunteered to prepare the presentation. <br />7.Update on working groups <br />i.Ms.Barry discussed with Town Counsel process for including people in <br />working groups. <br />ii.Open-ended questions on the form may be helpful.
